Trump Hilariously Turns Tables on White House Reporter Over Putin Ultimatum

President Donald Trump had a pretty funny exchange with a White House correspondent when the reporter questioned Trump about the 50-day ultimatum that he's given Russian President Vladimir Putin over the Russia-Ukraine war.

During an impromptu presser outside the White House on Tuesday, the president took wide-ranging questions on subjects from the Ukraine-Russia war to tariffs, inflation numbers, and his latest SCOTUS victory to downsize the Department of Education.

The reporter asked Trump, "Why are you giving Mr. Putin 50 additional days to prosecute this war against Ukraine?"

"No, I don't think 50 days is very long. And it could be sooner than that. I don't think 50 days is very long," Trump replied, turning the question around on the reporter.

"You should've asked that same question to [former President Joe] Biden. Why did he get us into this war? You should ask that question."

Then the reporter off-camera answered that he had asked the former president.

"Yeah, and what did he tell you?" Trump asked the reporter. "Why did he get us into this war?"

"....You know why he got us in? Because he's a dummy, that's why. And you don't cover it right. You should be asking that question to Biden."

"Why did he get us into this war? Because he's incompetent," Trump added. "It would've never happened if I were president."

As my RedState colleague Bob Hoge reported, President Trump appears to have had it with Putin's obfuscation when it comes to ending his war with Ukraine.

President Donald Trump is getting fed up with Russian President Vladimir Putin, who seemingly has no interest in achieving peace with Ukraine. As Trump said Sunday while speaking to reporters at Joint Base Andrews, "he'll talk so beautifully, then he'll bomb people at night."

On Monday, the President met with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte at the White House and announced new measures against the Russian Federation if they continue their bellicose ways.

He plans on upping efforts to get arms to Ukraine and also vowed severe economic consequences for Russia if they fail to work toward peace...

"We're going to be doing very severe tariffs if we don't have a deal in 50 days," Trump said. "Tariffs at about 100% you'd call them secondary tariffs. You know what that means."

The report went on:

A White House official clarified to CNN that when the President referred to "secondary tariffs," he meant 100% tariffs on Russia and secondary sanctions on other countries that buy Russian oil.

As for the weapons, in addition to Patriot missile batteries — the top item on Kyiv's wish list and one Trump said Sunday was vital to Ukraine's defenses — the US could also sell short-range missiles, Howitzer rounds and medium-range air-to-air missiles to NATO members, which would then be transferred to Ukraine, a person familiar with the deliberations said.
