As we previously reported, the Lamar County Democratic Party is refusing to accept the resignation offered by their chair, Gary O’Connor, after he made a racist slur against Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC), calling him an “Oreo.” “I had hoped that Scott might show some common sense, but it seems clear he is little more than an Oreo with no real principles,” O’Connor said.

O’Connor offered to resign after there was a huge backlash.

But the Lamar County Democratic Party issued a statement saying they weren’t going to accept it.

“Lamar County Democrats recommit ourselves to conduct our private conversations and our public social media discussions with anti-racist, pro- reconciling attitudes and language. We strongly condemn bigotry of any kind and will continue our historic efforts to work for justice and equality for all our fellow citizens.”

So that’s a nice, basically empty, statement that makes them sound better and maybe feel better, but O’Connor’s still there. He knew enough to tender his resignation, but they don’t care enough to accept it.

Beyond that, it was just part of a multitude of Democrats and folks on the left who thought it was alright to make bigoted remarks against Sen. Scott for the ‘crime’ of being Republican While Black.

The Texas GOP Chair Allen West has something to say about these Texas Democrats’ response, and he didn’t mince any words.

“The leadership of the Democrat Party says that they’re not accepting his resignation, that everything is fine, that he did not have to apologize for calling, a sitting U.S. Senator, a Republican senator, a black senator from South Carolina, an Oreo,” West said.

“So that’s the problem. When you want to talk about institutionalized racism, when you want to talk about the systemic racism and the purveyors thereof – its the Democrat Party. They’ve always been. They never voted for the 13th, 14th and 15th Amendments. They are the party of Jim Crow. They’re the party of segregation, of slavery. And now, thanks to the soft bigotry of low expectations, they’re the party that sees independent thinking, black men and women as a threat.

‘Oreo’s’, ‘Uncle Tom’s’, ‘house n- word’. You know what I’m talking about. They’re the real sellouts- those blacks in the Democrat Party that will allow this type of racism to continue on. So stop calling everyone else white supremacists and racists and all of these other things, because you The Lamar County Democrat Party, the Texas Democrat Party, you’re the real racists – and I despise you.”

Now that has to be the best and most accurate takedown of Democrats that I’ve heard in quite some time. He nails them to the wall. They want to paper it over with a pretty statement, but they don’t actually want to live up to any of the fine words they espoused. And West isn’t going to let them get away with it.
