Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) came loaded for bear to “Fox News Sunday” against House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and the Democrats on impeachment.

Fox’s Chris Wallace asked Graham what his response was to the Democrats suggestion that they wanted to rush the Senate trial. “How do you respond to the Democratic impeachment managers who say this is just a rush to get this over with?” he asked.

Graham let loose, reminding Wallace from whence the real rush to judgement was coming and how unfair the Democratic process had been to the president.

From Daily Caller:

Graham immediately turned the argument on Speaker Pelosi, saying that he liked her but that she was not doing right by the president. “I like Nancy Pelosi. I have known her for years. She is a very religious person,” Graham said. “When it comes to Donald Trump, Nancy Pelosi may pray privately, but she’s orchestrated the trial of holy hell.”

Graham then argued that from day one, Democrats had hit President Trump with one thing after another. “You took 48 days to impeach this president,” he said. “You did not allow him to call any witnesses. He could not have a lawyer present during the House Intel Committee. This has been a partisan railroad job. And you’re asking for fairness in the Senate? You violated every norm of what we do.” [….]

He added that the sooner the impeachment trial was over, the better it would be for the country. “This has been a political hit job. This is political revenge. What they’re doing to the presidency is a danger to the institution itself,” he said.

Lindsey Graham said that if the Democrats wanted to press the issue of witnesses, if one witness comes in, then all the witnesses were going to be called.

“There’s not going to be a process where the Democrats get their witnesses and the president gets shut out,” Graham declared. He said he was going to vote against calling the four witnesses the Democrats were looking to hear from because they were part of the president’s national security team and deserved executive privilege. He said the Democrats could have called them in the House, so apparently they didn’t think they needed them to make their case.

But he said either way he’s getting it over with as soon as possible. “I want this trial to get over with as quick as possible. I want the people of the United States to pick the next president, not a court of impeachment.”
