On Thursday, during a live Committee hearing concerning President Donald Trump’s phone call with the Ukrainian president, Volodymyr Zelensky, Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) fabricated Trump quotes. Schiff pretended to read from a transcript of the Trump phone call with the president of the Ukraine and made up several false things.
Republicans are now taking action.
Rep. Andy Biggs (R-AZ) introduced a motion in the House to censure Schiff which he explains during an appearance on Fox News. Biggs also noted how another one of the Democrats’ claims, that the conversation shouldn’t have been put on a secure server, fails. There was classified information on the call since Trump was discussing other nations with the Ukrainian president. That type of information, Biggs observed, is always classified. That in itself would justify putting it on the secure server in addition to the justifiable concern that the Trump administration has had about leaks.
President Trump also called on Schiff to resign.
According to PJ Media, Trump said that Schiff had “made up & twisted words into my call with the Ukrainian President to make it look like I did something very wrong.”
The president tweeted, Schiff “then boldly read those words to Congress and millions of people, defaming & libeling me. He must resign from Congress!”
He literally made up quotes from a conversation President Trump had with the leader of another nation, thereby not only undermining the President’s position at home but abroad too. America’s position is now weakened because of a) the content of Schiff’s lies and b) the publication of the transcript of a supposedly confidential conversation between two heads-of-state — a transcript that had to be released because of Rep. Schiff’s lies. Other leaders will now think twice before telling the president anything important for fear it might be leaked by Democrats in Congress and their allies in the CIA.
While claiming to care about Trump’s actions, Schiff is actually the one who put our national security in greater peril.
Schiff not only made those comments on Thursday, but he doubled down on the lies today on ABC with George Stephanopoulos, again claiming that Trump tried “to coerce that leader to manufacture dirt on his opponent and interfere in our election” which happened “at a time when the president is withholding hundreds of millions of dollars in assistance to Ukraine,” none of which was true.
And of course, that’s not the only problem when it comes to Schiff in this matter. He claimed to Stephanopoulos that once he found out about the complaint he went public and called for its release. But he only went public in the past week. He’s known about the complaint and may have even seen it since at least August 12. What he told Stephanopoulos today about that was untrue.
So what did Adam Schiff know and when did he know it?
Schiff has a long history of falsehoods. It’s long past time that he be called on it.
