NYT Claims Trump Bringing 'Multi-Pronged Assault' Against California—Should We Tell Them the Truth?

President Donald Trump has begun a "multi-pronged attack" against California "in earnest," according to The New York Times. Yeah.

The descriptor used by The Times caught me somewhat by surprise; not that the left-"leaning" paper would assert such nonsense, but rather the humorous irony in the reality that decades of Democrat political dominance in the state has led to disaster after disaster, some of which have been intentionally caused, others the result of unintended consequences, and still others by natural disasters should never have occurred — at least not to the disastrous degree some of them have.

Anyway, according to The Times, Trump began his war against California by "enacting six policies against the state in the space of just 24 hours last week" — after waiting to go after Gov. Gavin Newsom over the devastating January wildfires in Los Angeles County.

"In the annals of ill will between California and the Trump administration," The Times said, "Thursday may have been a record-breaker." Before we dig into the "record-breaker," it should be noted that Trump harbors no ill will against the state itself or its residents, but rather against Democrat leaders and their left-wing policies.

As to  "record-breaker," here we go, per The Times:

The U.S. Education Department announced early in the West Coast morning that it would challenge a major state law protecting transgender students. Two hours later came the revocation of federal waivers that had let California colleges include undocumented students in certain programs that receive federal aid.

The afternoon brought a flurry of investigations into suspected affirmative action in California higher education: The Justice Department said it would investigate whether Stanford University and three schools in the University of California system were violating a Supreme Court decision that banned the consideration of race in admissions. Then the Health and Human Services Department said it was looking into accusations of similar discrimination at “a major medical school in California.”

By sundown, the Agriculture Department had sent Gov. Gavin Newsom a letter saying it would review its education-related funding in California in connection with transgender protections. And the Justice Department announced that the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department was under investigation for allegedly taking too long to approve applications for concealed-carry permits.

Rather than waste time responding to each of the above "assaults," we can sum up all but one of them in three letters: DEI (diversity, equity, inclusion).

Trump, along with a majority of the American people, believes it's wrong for males pretending to be females beating the bejesus out of females in female sporting events. He also believes, as do a majority of Americans, that "equity" should not trump (no pun intended) merit — ability, experience, or expertise — in the workplace, the government, or the U.S. military.

As for the last policy above, Trump, along with a majority of Americans, strongly supports Second Amendment rights, while the gun-grabbing left incessantly continues to fight against the rights of law-abiding gun owners.

Any questions, my Democrat friends?

Did I mention that California (Democrat) officials sued Trump’s administration more than 120 times during his first term in office?

While it's true that a majority of California voters (mostly in large metro areas) continue to vote Democrat in overwhelming numbers and as such, it can be argued that they continue to get exactly what they vote for, it's also true that Trump won roughly 46 percent of the Hispanic vote in the 2024 presidential election and he also won 26 percent of the black male vote, doubling his 2020 total. Moreover, Trump increased his 2020 vote total in all 50 states, becoming the first Republican presidential candidate to capture the national popular vote in 20 years.

What can we make of the above reality?

While it's hard to quantify, suffice it to say that a growing number of Democrat voters — including in California — have begun to see the light after decades of destructive results of Democrat politicians and policies across the country.

Moreover, as Trump and his administration continue to rack up wins — and assuming they continue to do so — perhaps the day will come that California will no longer be the former Golden State, and will finally emerge from the ravages of Democrat dominance.
