Joe Scarborough's Buffoonery Reaches New Level As He Desperately Tries to Downplay Scope of Trump Win

Some things never change.

Despite "Morning Joe" co-hosts Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski's recent pilgrimage to Mar-a-Lago to grovel before President-elect Donald Trump — for which the husband-and-wife duo was roundly pillaged by their silly show's equally TDS-riddled fans — Scarborough has dutifully returned to form, this time reaching a new level of buffoonery while desperately trying to downplay the gravity of Trump's history win.

On Wednesday's episode, Scarborough tried to first make his unmakeable case by obsessing over the size of Trump's win in Wisconsin, of all states (emphasis, mine).

Right now, they're in this bubble. They won. And so all these Republicans are running around acting like they had a mandate. They won by one percentage point. They won Wisconsin by less than one percentage point.

Let me just say, and I was talking about this on the show yesterday. Everybody needs to take a deep breath. Everybody needs to take a deep breath. Because people are going, oh, this is the age of Elon. Oh, this is the age of the bro culture. Oh, America has darted so for right.

Let's take Wisconsin, the bellwether states of bellwether states. Kamala Harris lost by less than one percentage point because of the bro culture, right? Wrong. They elected a lesbian woman as senator on this same day.

Hold the bus — or clown car, as it were.

As even The New York Times noted on Tuesday, more than 89 percent of counties in the country shifted in Trump's favor in 2024. Joe must have "forgotten" that key fact. He also "forgot" that while Joe Biden won Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Wisconsin in 2020, Trump won all three in this go-around. And of course, Joe "forgot" that Trump went 7-0 in critical swing states as well. Regardless, the Trump-hating co-host also tried to minimize Trump's win in Michigan.

The same thing with Michigan. Oh, the bro culture. No, they elected a woman senator the same day that Kamala Harris lost by one and a half points. A woman who was running the shortest presidential campaign in American history, right?

Memo to Joe: If Kamala Harris had run an entire campaign, she likely would have lost even worse than she did, given that the more she talked, the more people — including untold numbers of Democrats —realized that she was a hollow fraud who couldn't put together a cogent argument for why she should be president.

Still, Scarborough insisted that "everybody's over-reading" Trump's win.

So, all I'm saying is here we are, everybody's over-reading this. Everybody's saying, you know, it's like, sackcloth and ashes for Democrats. Oh, we've got to change everything. Whoa, this was the greatest defeat in the history. No, no, there's no sweeping change here as far as what the American people said. It's like one percentage point.

And come January 20th, you start looking at policies. If they try to dart too for one direction or the other, we're going to see what happened in the first term. Democratic wins in '17, '18, '19, and '20. Everybody needs to be very careful not to over-read the 1% "landslide."

I have a better idea, Joe.

"Everybody" needs to calm down and realize that whether Trump won by one percent or 31 percent, he won, and Kamala Harris lost. Moreover, Trump became the first Republican to win the popular vote since George W. Bush bested John Kerry in 2004.

Oh, and the GOP regained control of the Senate and held onto the House. Shall I continue?

One more time, Scarborough tried to minimize Trump's win by still obsessing about Wisconsin.

Talk about the danger of Democrats overreacting to a 1% landslide. And again, I talk about Wisconsin. I just want to keep going back. Because everybody's over-reading this as some radical swing to the far right. Where in Wisconsin, Kamala Harris lost by less than one percentage point, and the Wisconsin voters re-elected a lesbian Democratic senator.

Trump Derangement Syndrome is a cruel, yet entertaining, affliction. And nobody wears it better than Joe Scarborough. OK, and Joy Reid and Rachel Maddow and the lady geniuses of "The View" and...
