Chris Cuomo Uses Kid Gloves to Rip Biden Over Treatment of Israel, Making Hostages an 'Afterthought'

Like a blind squirrel finding a nut, former CNN host Chris Cuomo criticized (with kid gloves) Joe Biden on Thursday over the embattled president's disgraceful treatment of Israel and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, as the Jewish state continues to press its war against Hamas.

Cuomo also asserted that Hamas-held hostages "have become an afterthought" to Biden, who focuses only on the "starving people of Gaza." (If Gazans are starving, it's because Hamas is stealing food aid.)

Cuomo's comments were in response to Biden's Thursday phone call with Netanyahu, in which the "weak" (Cuomo's descriptor) president demanded an immediate ceasefire, and all but threatened to halt support to Israel unless it takes steps to protect civilians in Gaza.

Cuomo went bottom-line:

President Biden, you're treating the war against Israel as if it were another political point of compromise. There is a primary reality: Hamas is a terror organization....and they need to give the hostages back.

There's another primary reality, Chris: Israel must eliminate the terrorist organization and others with the stated goal of destroying the Jewish state.

As to the "political point," Cuomo spoke to Biden directly, as if he were in the studio.

I know that the war in the Middle East is a major concern for you in the election, and I think that explains why you misplayed it the way you did today. You gave a mixed message. You talked tough, what sounded like a threat to your main ally in the region. And then you said you’re giving them more weapons.”

You’re treating the war against Israel as if it were another political point of compromise:

‘This is wrong. But this is wrong. And we need to do better here. And there has to be change and blah, blah, blah. Ceasefire.’ A lot of words, a lot of conditional language, a lot of half-speak, a lot of appeasement in a situation that is not about balance. It is about realities.

Whoa — I find myself in a position where I've never been. I agree with everything Chris Cuomo — Chris Cuomo — just said.

Cuomo also addressed the elephant in the room: Biden's uphill battle to win the November election. [Editor's note: Here's one of his earlier comments, in full context.]

I get how worried you are that you’re not going to have the same base you had the last time. But that is not an excuse to be weak. There’s a primary reality, okay? We seem to have forgotten it. Hamas is a terror organization. You designated them as that.

They stole people. They need to give the people they stole back to us, to Israel, first. The hostages have become an afterthought and that is wrong. And the reason it has happened is even more wrong. The reason it has happened is because other political exigencies and agendas have overtaken their relevance.

OK,  I'm damn near speechless.

Granted, Cuomo "talked to" Biden as if talking to a third-grader and trying to make everything OK. Still, even though the disgraced, ex-CNN host tried to soften every word he spoke, everything he said was fundamentally correct.

Who is this guy, and what did he do with Chris Cuomo?
