Far be it from me to agree with anything that comes out of radical leftist Cornel West's mouth, but in this case, the 2024 Green Party presidential candidate is right. For all of the wrong reasons, of course, but yes, today's Democrat Party is out of touch and "beyond redemption" with a majority of Americans.

West's mention of "beyond redemption" was in reference to his belief that Democrat lawmakers have failed to meet the “needs of poor people and working people.” 

How does one put this tactfully? 

The Democrat Party has for six decades intentionally failed to meet the needs of the poor, as promised, because if "poor people and working people," as West says, were to achieve — what's the Democrat code word? — "equity" with the evil "rich," why on Earth would they continue to vote Democrat? Spoiler: They wouldn't. 

Before we continue, let me be clear.

I believe that America, as a moral country, has an obligation to help our citizens who cannot help themselves, but those who refuse to help themselves and instead do their damndest to live off the largess of U.S. taxpayers? No.

Anyway, here's West's response when he was recently asked about his self-declared socialist pal, Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), and Bernie's endorsement of embattled Joe Biden's 2024 reelection campaign:

I think that Brother Bernie’s being consistent. You know, he said that all along and I can understand the argument. I think it’s a plausible argument, I just don’t think it’s a persuasive one.

I think that the argument he’s making means that there’s never any possibility for breaking the corporate duopoly, that there’s never any possibility of trying to speak to the needs of the poor working people.

Given the utopian radical he is, West is clearly clueless with respect to the Democrat Party's cozy "I'll scratch your back if you scratch mine" relationship with most of corporate America. 

But the more West talked, it occurred to me that maybe he does understand the disingenuousness of the Democrat Party, after all.

So I think in many ways, Brother Bernie is making a plausible argument, but I think deep down in his heart, he knows that the Democratic Party has no fundamental intention of speaking to the needs of poor people and working people.

They are dominated by the corporate wing, they’re dominated by the militarists when it comes to foreign policy, and that [Sanders] and AOC and the others are going to be, in a certain sense, window dressing at worst, and at best, people to appeal to every four years.

But the Democratic Party is beyond redemption at this point, when it comes to seriously speaking to the needs of poor and working people.

Again, West's "cradle to grave" view that the federal government exists in large point to take care of those who refuse to take care of themselves is nonsensical, but to "say the quiet part, out loud," his honesty was a bit refreshing, at least. 

The Green candidate's take-down of Sanders was precipitated by the Vermont senator's recent endorsement of the embattled Biden. Here's Bernie:

It is no secret that I want Joe Biden to be re-elected president. He and I share the goal of beating back right-wing extremism.

Uh-huh, Bernie. Say, maybe you should hook up with Cornel West in 2024 and "beat back right-wing extremism" once and for all. Please.
