Welp, look who slithered out of the woodwork. Disgraced former Minnesota Democrat Sen. Al Franken showed up on “CBS Mornings” to flat-out lie about Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis’s anti-CRT law. “Shockingly,” his gracious CBS hosts gleefully provided more-than-able assists throughout the lie-fest segment.

First, a bit of catch-up.

Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show” is featuring a cycle of substitute guest hosts to replace pretend-comedian Trevor Noah. This week’s host is Franken. Spoiler: The entire segment was dreadfully dishonest, with the hosts slobbering all over Franken, one after another. Yes, it really was that bad.

As reported by NewsBusters, after the necessary friendly conversation on Franken’s upcoming hosting duties, guest co-host Vladimir Duthiers gave the former senator a big fat pitch right down the center of the plate as an opening to attack DeSantis. Duthiers smugly whined:

[DeSantis] recently led an attack on the word ‘woke’ and whatever that means. It’s come to mean something very different [to] Republicans. Would you like, give me something to work with here?

Can you imagine the blowback if a Fox News host did the same with a conservative politician? (Except for Sean Hannity and Laura Ingraham, who play that game with carefully-selected Republican guests, nightly.)

Unsurprising, Franken lied repeatedly in his response:

Well, what he’s done is ridiculous in Florida. He has this law that — that if a teacher makes a kid feel uncomfortable about anything, I guess, including their race, that the parent can sue them. So I mean, how do you teach history, you know, American history in Florida? It is like, for our first 200 years, there were people who had to work for free.

Yeah no, Stuart Smalley. We’re not talking about simply a teacher making a kid feel uncomfortable about anything, we’re talking about teachers indoctrinating young children with Marxist-derived Critical Race Theory.

And teaching history, Al? Again, nonsense. Florida’s law bans indoctrination of kids with revisionist history, principally the widely discredited 1619 Project, which even its creator now admits is not really history.

As DeSantis said in a press release about Florida’s new W.O.K.E. Act — the Stop the Wrongs to Our Kids and Employees Act — gives businesses, employees, children, and families tools to fight back against woke indoctrination.

In Florida we are taking a stand against the state-sanctioned racism that is critical race theory. We won’t allow Florida tax dollars to be spent teaching kids to hate our country or to hate each other.

We also have a responsibility to ensure that parents have the means to vindicate their rights when it comes to enforcing state standards.

Finally, we must protect Florida workers against the hostile work environment that is created when large corporations force their employees to endure CRT-inspired ‘training’ and indoctrination.

The Bottom Line

Ironically, the reason the left is losing its mind over Ron DeSantis is the same reason Donald Trump’s losing his over the popular governor: DeSantis is more feared by both than any other potential 2024 Republican presidential candidate. For that reason, he must be lied about, personally attacked, or both.
