Marine Officer Relieved of Duty for Slamming Leaders Over Afghanistan Debacle Issues Blistering Warning

A U.S. Marine Corps Lt. Col. who went viral last week for demanding senior U.S. military leaders be held accountable for the Afghanistan disaster — specifically the deaths of 13 American service members — for which he was promptly relieved of duty has fired back with a blistering new warning to military brass.

If you’re keeping score at home, the principal “leaders” would be Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Gen. Mark “Critical Race Theory” Milley, Marine Corps Commandant Gen. David H. Berger — and of course the hapless, pretend commander in chief, Joe Biden.

First, a recap.

As my colleague streiff reported on Friday, Marine Lt. Col. Stuart Scheller posted a video on Twitter — which has now been viewed more than 2.5 million times — ripping senior military officials over the debacle, saying he was willing to “throw it all away” — as he demanded they be held accountable.

“I have been fighting for 17 years. I am willing to throw it all away to say to my senior leaders, I demand accountability.”

I didn’t serve in the military — but I do know a bit about integrity.

Scheller said, in part, as my colleague Nick Arama reported on Friday, as well:

“People are upset because their senior leaders let them down and none of them are raising their hands and accepting accountability or saying, ‘we messed this up.’

[…]

“I’m not saying we’ve got to be in Afghanistan forever, but I am saying: Did any of you throw your rank on the table and say, ‘Hey, it’s a bad idea to evacuate Bagram Airfield, a strategic airbase, before we evacuate everyone.’ Did anyone do that?

“And when you didn’t think to do that, did anyone raise their hand and say, ‘We completely messed this up’? […]

“What I will say, from my position, potentially all those people did die in vain if we don’t have senior leaders that own up and raise their hand and say ‘we did not do this well in the end.’ Without that, we just keep repeating the same mistakes.

“I want to say this very strongly: I have been fighting for 17 years. I am willing to throw it all away to say to my senior leaders ‘I demand accountability.’”

And that, gang, is all she wrote for Lt. Col. Scheller.

As reported by The Daily Wire within hours of the Marine’s video going viral, the Office of Naval Intelligence (ONI) informed active duty and retired service members that they weren’t allowed to criticize Biden or any of the senior government leadership.

The battalion commander was relieved of duty.

To his credit — and honor — Scheller has fired back.

In an interview with The New York Post, the fired Marine issued a blistering new warning about accountability — and lack thereof — of senior military leaders. Scheller told The Post:

“The baby boomers’ turn is over. I demand accountability, at all levels. If we don’t get it, I’m bringing it.”

Quoting Thomas Jefferson, he added: “Every generation needs a revolution.”

Semper fi, indeed.

The New York Post also spoke to the fired Marine’s father, Stuart Scheller Sr., who described his son as “the real deal, a Marine’s Marine.”

“People will follow him to the ends of the earth. He has put his life on the line for fellow Marines so putting his career on the line like this does not surprise us.

“It’s interesting that no one [in the military] has answered his call for accountability. Their answer was to fire him I guess. It’s a sad day for America.”

To add to Mr. Scheller’s last point, it’s also an ominous day for America. And it’s going to get worse.

Stuart Scheller Sr. said his son idolized his grandfather, reported The Post, a World War II veteran who landed on the beach at Normandy, and always wanted to go into the military.

Honor and integrity matter, Mr. Scheller. But you already knew that. So did your son. We honor his service.
