On this week’s episode of HBO’s “Real Time,” host Bill Maher once again ripped the left, this time blasting Google and Facebook for suppressing the theory that COVID-19 was leaked from a research lab in Wuhan, China. Maher also torched Google over its admission that the search engine tries to steer users to the CDC and the World Health Organization.

Maher was particularly “outraged” by Google admitting it manipulates search results in favor of the CDC and the WHO — both of which came under fire throughout the pandemic.

“I find this outrageous. Facebook banned any post for four months about COVID coming from a lab. Of course, now even the Biden administration is looking into this.

“Google — a Wall Street Journal reporter asked the head of Google’s health division — noticed that they don’t do auto-fill searches for ‘coronavirus lab leak’ the way they do for any other question and the guy said:

“‘Well, we want to make sure that the search isn’t leading people down pathways that we would find not authoritative information.'”

“Well, you were wrong, Google and Facebook!” Maher declared. “We don’t know! The reason why we want you is because we’re checking on this sh*t!”

“He (the WSJ reporter) said, ‘We want to ensure that the first thing users see is information from the CDC, the WHO — that’s who I’m checking on!

“The WHO has been very corrupt about a lot of sh*t and the CDC has been wrong about a lot of sh*t. This is outrageous that I can’t look this information up!”

To Maher’s point, as someone who uses Google on a regular basis, it’s often maddening attempting to get to objective, non-biased information. A perfect example these days is “Critical Race Theory” — it’s practically impossible to cut through left-wing propaganda.

Maher also went after YouTube for removing Bret Weinstein‘s podcast that discussed ivermectin as a potential treatment for COVID.

“Now they’re doing it with this drug Ivermectin. They threw Bret Weinstein off YouTube, or almost. He’s one strike away. YouTube should not be telling me what I can see about Ivermectin. Ivermectin isn’t a registered Republican, it’s a drug! I don’t know if it works or not and a lot of other doctors don’t either.”

Earlier in the panel discussion, as noted by Fox News, Maher teed off on the “political dimension” the lab-leak theory was given last year, stressing that there was “nothing political” about wondering how the pandemic started.

“China does bad things. Liberals don’t want to say anything because [the Chinese are] Asian and [the liberals] don’t think very clearly about this, so they conflate it with anti-Asian hate crimes here. It has nothing to do — one has nothing to do with the other.”

Maher’s assertion that nothing about the lab-leak theory had a “political dimension” was partially right; it should not have had a political dimension, but everything about it was politicized, suppressed, or outright banned. As has been the case with the virus itself.

So, why? Why did Democrat Party and its sycophantic liberal media lapdogs hype the ever-loving crap out of COVID from the outset? Setting aside the fact that the left exploits everything it believes is in its best political interests to exploit, two words: Donald Trump.

Donald Trump could have singlehandedly cured cancer, and the Democrat Party, CNN, and MSNBC — along with “a cast of thousands” — would have railed against him for putting oncologists out of work.

And Bill Maher?

“Back in the day,” when Maher occasionally came out of the liberal fog with a take that was spot-on, I joked that “even a blind squirrel finds an acorn every once in a while.” But Maher started finding more and acorns, prompting questions like: Is Bill Maher finally wising up? Is Maher leaving the left behind and at least becoming centrist? Has Bill Maher changed?

The answer to “all of the above” is no. Bill Maher has not changed. Bill Maher is not leaving the left behind. The left has changed. The left is leaving Bill Maher behind.

The radicalization of the Democrat Party has gone mainstream, from morals-free Nancy Pelosi ruling her House Democrat caucus with a hypocritical iron (read: bony) fist to Chucky Schumer shamelessly lying his ass off on a daily basis, to addled Joe Biden as the radical left’s organ grinder monkey and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez as its shiny hood ornament.

Meanwhile, Bill Maher is going to continue finding more acorns.
