White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt flipped predecessor Jen Psaki's attack on prayer following the tragic mass shooting in Minneapolis on its head, telling her to pray for the victims and their families.
During a White House press briefing on Thursday, Leavitt was asked about former Biden-Harris White House press secretary's awful comments about prayer following the horrific shooting at Annunciation Catholic School that left two children dead and more than a dozen others injured by a "transgender murderer.”
.@PressSec: "I saw the comments of my predecessor, @jrpsaki, and frankly, I think they're incredibly insensitive and disrespectful to the tens of millions of Americans of faith across this country who believe in the power of prayer." https://t.co/jNUeSZiw7w pic.twitter.com/SwNAXmsJNd

Psaki wrote on X, "Prayer is not freaking enough. Prayers does not end school shootings. prayers do not make parents feel safe sending their kids to school. Prayer does not bring these kids back. Enough with the thoughts and prayers."
Leavitt's response: "Yes, I saw the comments of my predecessor, @jrpsaki, and frankly, I think they're incredibly insensitive and disrespectful to the tens of millions of Americans of faith across this country who believe in the power of prayer."
"Who believes that prayer works," she added. "And who believes that in a time of mourning like this, when beautiful young children were killed, while praying in a church, it's utterly disrespectful to deride the power of prayer in this country."
"And it's disrespectful to the millions of Americans of faith," Leavitt continued before nailing her final word on the matter. "And I would encourage Mrs. Psaki to pray for these families themselves who need it right now more than ever."
Leavitt's comments echoed those of my RedState colleague Sister Toldjah, who pointed out that it wasn't just Psaki spouting the hurtful comments.
In the aftermath of the mass shooting that took place on Wednesday morning at Annunciation Catholic School in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the Usual Suspects lined up to denounce sincere expressions of "thoughts and prayers" from conservatives for the victims and their families.
They proclaimed, in a nutshell, that it was meaningless and did not prevent mass tragedies from happening.
Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey (D), for instance, said at a press conference that "And don't just say this is about 'thoughts and prayers,' right now. These kids were literally praying! It was the first week of school, they were in a church."
Toldjah wrote that Frey, Psaki, and other Democrats deriding prayer hurts those of us who have found comfort in it in awful, hopeless times in our lives.
The power of faith and Prayer was absolutely what carried both my mom and me through everything we went through in 2022, which was one of the most challenging years of our lives.
We lost my dad after a long battle with kidney disease. Four months later, we learned of her colon cancer diagnosis, and soon after, surgery and then treatment followed, which was hard on her. Further, after the completion of her three months of chemotherapy, there have been the periodic follow-ups to see if all the numbers and CT scans look okay and show nothing of concern.
Prayers and our faith in God have been our guiding force through all of it.
My RedState colleague Bonchie rightly reported that Democrats' response to the Minnesota shooting of children has been the most evil he's ever seen.
Please continue for the victims and their families, and we will do the same here at RedState.
