Parents are speaking out about their daughters having to compete against a trans-identifying biological male at this weekend's state high school track and field finals in Clovis, California.
RedState attended Friday's California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) Track & Field Championship, held in the city's Veterans Memorial Stadium, and spoke to some fathers and mothers who were upset that their daughters were having to compete against a biological boy (AB Hernandez) in their sport on Friday.
While most of the people we spoke to refused to go on record, one Southern California father, Ryan Combe, told RedState he was "disgusted watching all the left media minimize [Hernandez's] dominance."
"And to say something like 'He's not even ranked that high,'" Combe said, as he noted that the boy is currently ranked 9th in the nation in the triple jump. "It's just disgusting."
"My daughter's a female athlete. She's an elite, outstanding, hardworking athlete, one of the best in the United States," he added. "She works her tail off six days a week, thinks about running, and what she does, seven days a week. But any random boy could roll out of bed, and if he's in decent shape, beat her."
"It's a biological advantage that boys have," Combe continued. "This boy [Hernandez], I have watched all season at events, and [he] beat my daughter's friends in jumps. My daughter has competed against another boy all season in running, and he actually took a league title away from one of my daughter's friends."
The CA father said he just couldn't believe he lives in a "state that allows this."
"I feel failed as a father … It's very, very frustrating as a father," Combe said, mentioning that his daughter is the runner who recently went viral when she stood on the podium wearing an XX-XY shirt after winning a track event.
Combe said he knew Hernandez would be in the finals because he just "absolutely" had been dominating the other competitions all year.
The parents' words come after the state's high school sports governing body, CIF, refused to ban Hernandez, the top-ranked girls' triple jumper and second-ranked girls' long jumper, heading into the finals, from this week's championship held in the city.
Hernandez continued to compete against female athletes, despite President Donald Trump's threat to yank federal funding from the state for violating Title IX by allowing the biological boy to compete against girls.
On Hernandez's first jump, he had a small cheering section. However, aside from that, there was little public reaction from the parents and those inside the stadium. Outside the stadium, it was another story, with a handful of protestors carrying signs defending girls' sports.

As noted in our prior reporting on the matter:
California Family Council Women's Sports Advocate Sophia Lorey, a former four-year varsity CIF athlete, called out CIF for allowing AB Hernandez to compete against females.
"California is failing our girls," Lorey said., "That's not equality, that's not inclusion, this is the erasure of female athletics. President Trump just threatened that federal funds will be pulled from CA schools if CIF allows this injustice to continue. And he's right."
RedState spoke to Lorey, who told us that the girls competing Friday were "not okay" with competing against a biological boy.
"I have received texts and calls from these athletes and their parents that this is not okay," Lorey said. "They don't want to have to compete against a boy, but they have trained so hard to make it to this spot and CIF Finals. And so they want a change from CIF, and they are wondering why the group won't protect them."
Lorey encouraged people to go to XXonly.org to sign the petition calling on CIF to do what's right.
