As projected early Wednesday morning, Decision Desk HQ has determined that the U.S. Senate seat vacated by Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-AL) will go to a runoff election. Republican Rep. Barry Moore (AL-01) and businessman and former Navy SEAL Jared Hudson were unable to reach 50 percent of the vote in order to advance to the November general election. Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall, who was also on the ballot, came in third place, removing him from contention.

The Trump-endorsed Moore is a three-term congressman who has been a staunch supporter of candidate and President Donald Trump since 2015. Moore is a member of the House Freedom Caucus, and touts not only his support of the president but also his consistent conservative voting record, along with the relationships he has already established in Washington, D.C., which will aid him in being an effective senator for Alabama and the country. Jared Hudson, a former Navy SEAL, businessman, and CEO of the non-profit Covenant Rescue Group, ran on a platform of term limits and that he would be a fighter for the America First agenda, helping President Trump to further secure the border, combat the woke agenda, and defend Christian values.

By any standard, the race to fill Tuberville's seat has been a competitive one, pitting a sitting congressman, a term-limited Alabama AG, and a Navy SEAL against each other. Recent polling had the three candidates in a dead heat, with Hudson taking a slight lead over Marshall. A clear indicator that a runoff election would be inevitable.

And that is how it landed once the votes were fully tallied, with Barry Moore leading the pack, and Jared Hudson edging out Steve Marshall to take second place.

The runoff election for this Alabama U.S. Senate race is slated for June 16, 2026.

Editor’s Note: The 2026 Midterms will determine the fate of President Trump’s America First agenda. Republicans must maintain control of both chambers of Congress.
