President Trump Gives Full-Throated Support to Surgeon General Nominee Dr. Casey Means

During President Donald Trump's announcement of his trade deal with Great Britain, a reporter changed topics and asked about the new nominee for the United States Surgeon General. As our editor Becca Lower reported, President Trump removed his original nominee, Dr. Janette Nesheiwat, from consideration and instead nominated Dr. Casey Means, a functional medicine adherent and fierce critic of the medical industrial complex and Big Pharma, as his new nominee.

The United States Surgeon General is tasked with providing the American people with the best scientific information available on how to improve health, reduce the risk of illness and injury, and promote methods that will support and maximize national health. As part of the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Health in the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), if confirmed, Means would work in concert with HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., NIH Director Dr. Jay Bhattacharya, and FDA Commissioner Dr. Marty Makary.

The reporter mentioned in her question that Dr. Means never finished her Stanford residency and is not a practicing physician. The reporter then asked Trump to explain why he picked her to be the top doctor for the United States. Trump revealed in his response that HHS Secretary Kennedy was the primary driver behind the decision.

Because Bobby thought she was fantastic. She's a brilliant woman who went through Stanford, and as I understand it, she basically wanted to be an academic as opposed to a surgeon. I think she graduated first in her class at Stanford. Bobby really thought she was great. I don't know her, I listened to the recommendation of Bobby, I met her yesterday, and once before. She's a very outstanding person, a great academic, actually. So, I think she''ll be great.

According to the Washington Post, Dr. Janet Nesheiwat "faced intense conservative criticism for her past advocacy for coronavirus vaccines and scrutiny of her medical education claims." However, Trump's Truth Social post announcing Means' nomination referenced that Nesheiwat would still be working closely with Secretary Kennedy and HHS.

Means is also facing scrutiny from some in the MAGA and Make America Healthy Again (MAHA) Movement. Dr. Robert Malone, who invented the mRNA and DNA vaccine technology and then became a fierce critic of the methods employed by government and health officials during the COVID pandemic, chastised Means' critics with this insight.

Don't be naive.

Casey Means wrote a book on nutrition and big ag/the toxic food supply, not mRNA vaccines. She has provided direction for the MAHA movement - which is MAKE AMERICA HEALTHY AGAIN - it is about chronic disease and nutrition and so much more, not just about vaccines.

There are many names for the anti-vax and anti-mRNA movement (medical freedom, comes to mind), but these groups/concepts are only a small part of MAHA.

Anyone who spoke against either mRNA vaccines or vaccines will not get through Senate confirmation. End of story.

Trump will not nominate someone who can't get through confirmation or who will have to make promises to Senators in the committee - that will tie up what the Trump administration can accomplish. He needs the Senate to confirm his appointments.

Hearings for Dr. Casey Means before the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pension (HELP) Committee are yet to be scheduled.

Team Trump has been thinking outside the box, and it’s refreshing after four years of Biden malaise.
