I am convinced that senior political correspondent and former George W. Bush staffer Scott Jennings is the sole reason why anyone watches CNN. The humorless scolds with the heavy pancake makeup and the condescending demeanor are not a draw, and when they do nothing much but spout and affirm Democrat and Leftist talking points (but I repeat myself), it's easy to flip the remote to something more compelling--like the latest marathon of "Law & Order."
But Jennings' Tuesday night exchange with Neera Tanden on CNN's "NewsNight" was definitely must-see TV. If you're unfamiliar with who the heck Neera Tanden is, here's a refresher.
Like former Ambassador and Obama consigliere Susan Rice, Tanden has been a shadow figure around every Democrat administration since Bill Clinton, and is currently the president and CEO of Center for American Progress, the John Podesta-founded, left-wing think tank money-laundering organization. In 2021, Tanden was also a Biden nominee for the Office of Management and Budget (OMB), until her past mean tweets on the platform formerly known as Twitter against Republicans and Democrats like Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) were exposed, and she lost Senate support and was not confirmed.
Tanden still managed to latch herself onto the Biden administration, and there are rumors swirling about her potential involvement with the coverup of Biden's cognitive decline, as well as her role in the burbling Biden Autopen scandal. But for now, she is once again waiting in the wings for the next Democrat administration, where she can conveniently insert herself like a parasitic infection.
The "NewsNight" panel discussion centered around the violence and vandalism at Tesla dealerships, and Jennings made the point that it's a clear example of Democrat activists and terrorists gone wild.
So, doubtful it's Republicans attacking Tesla dealerships around the country.
It's pretty wild, actually. The other night Donald Trump said these are domestic terrorists, everyone laughed about it and scoffed at it. That video looked like terrorism to me. It's obviously an organized, coordinated effort, however people are communicating with each other, to do this to people around the country who chose to buy a Tesla at some point in the past - many of whom I'm sure were Democrats who bought them in the first place. All because their entire political worldview is ruled by their emotions.
The camera panned to Tanden, who was exhibiting her shocked/mocking face in response. Jennings continued.
And that's the American left right now. It is one angry mob after another willing to take things into their own hands, up to and including keying, firebombing and otherwise vandalizing cars and car dealerships and charging stations. It's outrageous, it is terrorism, people ought to be put in jail, and left there for a very long time and be taught a lesson.
When it comes to any mention of riots, terrorism, or uprising, every Democrat has become Pavlov's dog. You say, "domestic terrorism" and they salivate and sputter, "But.. but—January 6!" Teeran was on brand, as she countered Jennings' commentary.
So, when they do it to a Tesla dealership, it's really bad; but when they do it to halls of Congress, we should pardon them. Is that your position? Are you okay with the January 6 pardons?
People destroying the private property of a billionaire CEO they hate and protesting (peacefully or no) at Capitol Hill are two entirely different matters. But right on cue, Tanden went there. Jennings was having none of it.

Jennings' line: "I'm sorry you're a condescending person who hasn‘t been paying attention," was incendiary. We use the word "torched" a bit much, but in this case, you could see the smoke wafting from Tanden's hair. If you heard that noise in the background, it was Tandem knocking over her CNN mug because she was that discombobulated.
Of course, Tanden is doing damage control and pretending that she won the argument on X.
Some men are so emotional. https://t.co/sxb0vlBWUF

Frankly, while Jennings was more fiery than his usual calm demeanor, in this case, it was totally appropriate. Tanden's snarky attempt to not only equate J6 with violence against private citizens and a private corporation, and also to drag Jennings (which is her calling card) and claim he did not speak out against J6, was uninformed, short-sighted, and ridiculously partisan.
But, that is what she is on the network to do. Until a Democrat gets back into power and Tanden can embed herself again, she's a bit at loose ends. CNN is giving her a leg up, and frankly, Jennings bought her more attention than she deserves or will get otherwise.
