I am truly sick of these "watchdog" groups whose watchful oversight only gazes in one direction. The so-called non-partisan Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW), the organization that brought the lawsuit on behalf of the six supposedly Republican and unaffiliated voters who wanted Trump removed from the Colorado ballot, apparently have deep pockets and partisan leanings.
Color us shocked <insert *eyeroll* emoji>.
The board chairs of the group that brought the lawsuit leading to former President Donald Trump's removal from the 2024 Colorado ballot had previously donated large sums to President Biden's campaign and victory fund, filings reviewed by Fox News Digital show.
The Colorado Supreme Court disqualified Trump from the ballot on Tuesday under the 14th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution over the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol riots.
"We do not reach these conclusions lightly," the court's majority wrote. "We are mindful of the magnitude and weight of the questions now before us. We are likewise mindful of our solemn duty to apply the law, without fear or favor, and without being swayed by public reaction to the decisions that the law mandates we reach."
CREW is non-partisan like Dylan Mulvaney is a woman. The fact that Media Matters' David Brock used to be the chair of CREW at one time would have been the first clue.
The organization got its start in 2003 as a pushback to the conservative ethics organizations that successfully opposed former President Bill Clinton during his two terms. Replicating success, so to speak. CREW claims on their website that they are, "using bold legal actions and in-depth investigations, CREW targets government officials who sacrifice the common good to special interests and personal gain." But their track record shows that the only government officials they seem to target are conservatives and/or Republicans. Like much of Washington, In 2017, CREW developed Trump Derangement Syndrome, and their every move has been focused on tearing down and destroying Trump.
So tiresome.
CREW's leaders, meanwhile, have showered Biden with thousands of dollars in donations when he previously went head-to-head against Trump.
Beth Nolan, a former general counsel at George Washington University who also served as counsel to former President Bill Clinton, steers CREW's board as its chair. According to Federal Election Commission records, Nolan sent $2,800 to Biden's campaign and $3,000 to the Biden Victory Fund in 2020.
Bay area heavy funder and CREW Board member Wayne Jordan also poured major moolah into Biden's coffers.
In addition to Nolan, CREW's vice chair, Wayne Jordan, donated substantial amounts to Biden's presidential apparatus by pushing $300,000 to the Biden Victory Fund in 2020. Jordan is married to Democrat megadonor Quinn Delaney, who added $650,000 to Biden's victory fund during the last election cycle, records show.

CREW's involvement on behalf of the six voters ultimately led to Tuesday's Colorado Supreme Court ruling to remove Trump from appearing on the state's ballots. The watchdog group's website states Tierney Lawrence Stiles LLC, KBN Law LLC, and Olson Grimsley Kawanabe Hinchcliff & Murray LLC were also involved with the effort.
No pretense at non-partisanship and no shame in taking a victory lap: CREW President Noah Binder bragged on X about their win in removing Trump from the Colorado ballot.
We just won before the Colorado Supreme Court in our challenge to keep Donald Trump off the ballot as disqualified under the 14th amendment for engaging in insurrection. A huge moment for democracy. More to come soon.

And of course, CREW is fundraising off of it, because grifters gonna grift.
How does this pretend at ethics? The naked agenda-driven focus of "Get rid of Trump by any means necessary" should have been just cause to have the Trump Ballot lawsuit rejected on its face. The fact that the major players in this organization have funded President Joe Biden's campaign should have also been a consideration. Yet, these are the times in which we live: people twisting ethics and the law into a pretzel to their advantage.
