The NY Times Ed. Board Needs to Shut Up About Trump Being 'Unfit'

It appears The New York Times editorial board might have resigned itself to the inevitability of President Joe Biden being the Democratic Party’s candidate for president. After publicly calling for the president to step aside, it has now published an editorial in which it does the typical “Orange Man Bad” routine to distract from the fact that its candidate is a walking corpse.

In the piece, titled “Trump Is Unfit To Lead,” the authors state that the Republican Party, which was “A once great political party,” is now serving “the interest of one man” who is “demonstrably unsuited for the office of president.”

The Times compares Trump to GOP figures like Ronald Reagan, Georgia H.W. Bush, John McCain, and Mitt Romney, claiming they were part of a vision that “was rooted in the values of freedom, sacrifice, individual responsibility and the common good.”

On the other hand, that big meanie Donald Trump “has shown a character unworthy of the responsibilities of the presidency” and “demonstrated an utter lack of respect for the Constitution, the rule of law and the American people.”

The editorial goes on to insist that Trump “is animated by a thirst for political power” because he wants to “exact retribution against those who he thinks have wronged him.”

The Democratic Party is currently ensconced in a debate over whether to replace President Biden on the ticket or continue supporting him, The Times notes, before arguing that “It is a national tragedy that the Republicans have failed to have a similar debate about the manifest moral and temperamental unfitness of their standard-bearer.”

The authors conclude the piece by begging voters to support Biden for president instead of the Orange Man What Is Bad™.

It is understandable that The New York Times would go this route. As I stated earlier. It is possible, but highly unlikely, that the Democrats will be able to replace Biden. Even if they did, the most likely replacement would be Vice President Kamala Harris, who is about as popular as a bad case of hemorrhoids.

The Democrats are in deep trouble, and their close friends and allies in the activist media know it. However, it is quite laughable that The Times would criticize Republicans for not having the same debate as Democrats when Trump can at least finish a cogent sentence without much effort. Moreover, folks on the right did not spend years pretending Trump was the orange male version of Mother Theresa the same way Democrats falsely portrayed Biden as mentally competent.

The Times’ point about the Constitution and Trump’s supposed thirst for revenge is the type of folderol that one would expect from the newspaper. Democrats are currently weaponizing the government against their most feared opponent through a series of politically motivated efforts to indict and convict him.

As much as the left does not want to admit it, they screwed up royally by waiting until the debate to start pressuring Biden to drop out of the race. Despite what they claim, they were well aware of Biden’s cognitive problems for years while lying to the public about it. Now, The New York Times appears to believe that refocusing on Trump might give them a better chance of dragging their candidate over the finish line.
