Martial Arts Association Changes Policy That Allowed Biological Males to Compete Against Females

Score another victory for the gender-sanity crowd! The North American Grappling Association (NAGA), after being pilloried for having female martial artists face off against biological men, has changed its policy.

The issue first came to light earlier in 2023 when reports revealed that the association was bending to the woke progressive crowd’s gender ideology.

Last week, I wrote about a Reduxx article in which several female competitors stated that despite the NAGA’s claims, they were being pitted against males without their knowledge.

Female martial artists have come forward to reveal that male athletes claiming to be transgender have completely overtaken the women’s categories of a major grappling association, leaving them fearing for their safety in many instances. One of the men, Corissa Griffith, took home four gold medals in the women’s category during a tournament in Georgia on October 21.

The North American Grappling Association (NAGA) is the largest submission grappling association in the world, and facilitates standards and tournaments in various martial arts, including Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. But while NAGA has provided competition categories for males and females since its inception in 1995, it has recently become the subject of controversy after a number of female athletes were found to have been matched up against trans-identified males.

The issue first received widespread attention in September after it was learned that a female Brazilian jiu-jitsu athlete had not been informed she would be competing against a male. Taelor Moore posted a clip of her fight against James “Alice” McPike on her Instagram, noting that there was a 65lbs weight difference between them.

The association previously claimed that it had a policy of giving female martial artists a choice as to whether they wanted to face biological males during tournaments. But the athletes told Reduxx this wasn’t always true.

Now, the organization has altered its policy and requires transgender females, those who were born as males, to compete against other males. The new policy says “transgender females must compete in the men’s division. We hope that the simplicity of this revised policy will help to avoid any future occurrences where transgender females enter women divisions.”

The policy also explains that “If NAGA staff is informed that a transgender female is in a women’s division, they will be given the choice to go to the men’s division or given a refund.”

This issue became even more controversial than others in which transgender females were allowed to compete with actual females in other sports. Given that this is a combat sport, critics expressed concerns that not only would this constitute an unfair competition, but it could also be dangerous for female martial artists.

The fact that biological males were dominating these events was also seen as a slap in the face to actual female athletes, who worked hard to get where they were. In one instance, Corissa Griffin, a male-born athlete, won four gold medals in the women’s category during a tournament in Georgia. This scenario has played out multiple times at other events.

This is a huge victory for those who actually care about protecting women. The progressive agenda, when it comes to gender identity, has taken precedence over safeguarding women. Indeed, the situation creates a climate in which these athletes are often afraid to speak out, fearing being called bigots. Now, they do not have to worry about having to face opponents that have distinct physical advantages over them.

This story shows that when sane folks are willing to stand up and speak out, they can effectively stop progressives from shoving their views down their throats. In this case, the backlash prompted the NAGA to reverse course. Let’s hope this happens with other sports as well.
