Hamas Sits on Massive Stockpile of Fuel, but Would Rather Use It for Rockets Instead of Hospitals

While the international community, elite press, and far-leftist politicians are focused on schoolmarming Israel about its efforts to protect its citizens, Hamas has been up to even more skullduggery. Hospitals and other important facilities in the Gaza Strip are facing severe fuel shortages, which makes it harder to provide electricity and other resources to the civilians in the region.

Yet, Hamas is reportedly sitting on a massive stockpile of fuel. Unfortunately, the terrorist organization is not too keen on the idea of sharing the much-needed energy source. Instead, they would rather use it to fuel their operations against Israel.

As U.N. officials say hospitals in Gaza are running dangerously low on fuel, Hamas is maintaining a stockpile of more than 200,000 gallons of fuel for the rockets it fires into Israel and the generators that provide clean air and electricity to its network of underground tunnels, according to U.S. officials, current and former Israeli officials and academics.

The statements come as President Joe Biden called for a humanitarian pause in Gaza and U.N. officials warned that aid agencies, water treatment plants and bakeries there may soon run out of fuel. Israel, which has allowed a limited number of trucks carrying food, water and medicine into the enclave, continues to ban deliveries of fuel, which it says Hamas will use for military purposes.

Hamas, meanwhile, has repeatedly demanded fuel deliveries to Gaza during negotiations to allow foreign nationals to leave the enclave and in talks about the release of 240 people it kidnapped.

Secretary of State Antony Blinken testified before Congress, noting that Hamas has not shared its fuel stores with hospitals in Gaza and emphasized that if the terrorist group actually cared about the Palestinians living under its governance, they would make sure medical facilities could remain operational.

Secretary of State Antony Blinken testified before Congress on Tuesday that Hamas is refusing to share its fuel with hospitals in Gaza.

“Hamas has its own supply stockpile of fuel,” Blinken told the Senate Appropriations Committee. “If it cared a whit about the people of Gaza, it would make sure itself that it used that fuel to have the hospitals be able to operate the incubators, stay turned on, etc. But, of course, it doesn’t.”

Further compounding the issue is that American and Israeli officials agree that the international community should provide humanitarian aid to civilians suffering in Gaza. Over 200 trucks have carried essential supplies from Egypt into Gaza since Hamas' October 7 attack on Israel, which has banned fuel deliveries into the region.

President Joe Biden recently visited Israel and announced $100 million in aid for Gaza. However, many have expressed concerns that the aid packages are not going to reach those who actually need it. Reports of people breaking into United Nations warehouses in Gaza and stealing supplies have underscored these concerns. It is believed that those pilfering these supplies are Hamas operatives.

People like Israeli Minister Israel Katz argued that aid should not be sent into the region until Hamas is eliminated. He noted that Hamas tends to use these supplies to aid in its war effort against Israel.

This has placed Israel in a tricky position when it comes to attempting to minimize Palestinian civilian deaths. There are many in the region who need different types of help, but with Hamas in power, it is a guarantee that none of them will receive it. At this point, all indications suggest that any aid sent to Gaza will only go to support Hamas’ effort to attack Israel.
