I have a rule that I will rarely allow myself to violate: I don’t make cracks about people’s intelligence – or lack thereof. But Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) makes this incredibly difficult, and it’s not just because he looks like Dexter.
On Saturday, Rep. Swalwell chimed in on the controversy over former President Donald Trump having dinner with rapper Kanye West and white nationalist Nick Fuentes. As you might already know, the left pounced after it was revealed that West joined Trump for dinner at Mar-a-Lago and brought his new friend Fuentes along for the ride.
While there was no evidence that Trump was aware of Fuentes’ beliefs, leftists jumped on the opportunity to pretend this proves the former president hates black and brown folks.
Swalwell posted a tweet attempting to link House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) to the controversy. He wrote:
Kevin McCarthy condones Donald Trump hanging out with this Holocaust-denying Jew-hater. Why won’t the media seek comment from McCarthy? If Barack Obama did this every single one of us would be hounded for comment.

In another tweet, Swalwell continued:
We are not powerless. Let’s demand the media ask McCarthy if he’s OK with this. This ain’t any old scandal he’s being asked about. Trump is hanging with Nazis. Kevin wants to be Speaker. He can’t just take potshots from the gallery any longer. What is it @GOPLeader?

Of course, anyone who was around in the Obama era, or knows how to use Google could easily show why the lawmaker’s tweet was utterly foolish. In fact, some users were kind enough to point this out:

Sharpton. Jackson. Ayer. Wright. Farrakhan. None of you were ever confronted on it *once*

Why haven’t you condemned Ilhan Omar or Rashida Tlaib?

As you can see, Obama had no problem palling around with the likes of Louis Farrakhan, who has made several anti-Semitic statements. Moreover, people like Swalwell have absolutely no problem with anti-Semitism when it involves folks on their team like Rep. Omar.
But the fact that Swalwell posted that tweet shows that either he is lacking in the intelligence department, or he believes those who follow him aren’t too bright. Unfortunately, with this particular individual, it is too hard to tell.
