What exactly happened at the home of Paul and Nancy Pelosi on Friday morning? Many questions still remain the day after a man allegedly broke into the residence and assaulted the husband of the Speaker of the House.

As more details emerge about the case, more questions are being raised. Naturally, Democrats and their comrades in the activist media are pinning this on former President Donald Trump because he is responsible for all evil that occurs in the United States.

Others have speculated that the incident was the result of an affair Paul Pelosi was having with his assailant.

But here is what we know so far.

David DePape, the alleged assailant, forced his way into Pelosi’s home through a back entrance, according to San Francisco Police Chief Bill Scott. Politico reported that officers arrived at the home after receiving a 911 call and “were let inside by an unknown person.”

This part has raised questions as to who this “unknown person” is. It could be that the outlet does not know who let the officers in – or that there was another individual in the house. Right now, it is not clear.

The authorities said DePape, after having broken into the home, “violently assaulted” 82-year-old Paul Pelosi with a hammer at around 2:30 a.m. on Friday. He was heard asking for Nancy Pelosi, who was in Washington, D.C., at the time.

“Our officers observed Mr. Pelosi and the suspect both holding a hammer,” Scott explained during a Friday morning press conference. “The suspect pulled the hammer away from Mr. Pelosi and violently assaulted him with it. Our officers immediately tackled the suspect, disarmed him, took him into custody, requested emergency backup and rendered medical aid.”

Paul dialed 911 after telling the suspect he needed to use the restroom. On the call, he told the dispatcher that DePape identified himself as a “friend,” but explained that he did not know the suspect. “What he said, [the dispatcher] felt there was something more to it,” the police chief said.

Politico reported:

Police have taken DePape into custody and said he will be booked for attempted homicide, burglary, assault with a deadly weapon, aggravated battery with serious bodily injury, elder abuse, infliction of great bodily injury on the elderly, dissuading a victim, threatening a family member of a public official, and damaging or preventing a communication for an emergency call.

The motive has not yet been established. However, more information about the alleged attacker has come to light.

DePape grew up in British Columbia before moving to San Francisco 20 years ago. The police said he lived as a homeless person in Berkeley. Gene DePape, David’s stepfather, told reporters that the suspect lived with him until he was 14 years old. He noted that he hadn’t seen his stepson since 2003, and that he attempted to get in touch with him in 2007, “but his girlfriend hung up on me when I asked to talk to him,” according to NBC.

The suspect was a known pro-nudity activist. He participated in nude protests against local laws prohibiting public nudity. He was also a hemp jewelry maker and lived in a flat in Berkeley with another pro-nudity activist named Gypsy Taub, who hosted a local public-access television show called “Uncensored 9/11,” in which she discussed the theory that the 9/11 terrorist attacks were engineered by the government.

It was also revealed that DePape was also into various conspiracy theories. NBC reported:

Web blogs posted in recent months online under the name David DePape contained rants about technology, aliens, communists, religious minorities, transexuals and global elites. The posts questioned the results of the 2020 election, defended former President Donald Trump and echoed QAnon conspiracy theories that the country is run by a deep state cabal of child sex traffickers, satanic pedophiles, and baby-eating cannibals.

Police also noted that he had a “list of other politicians he planned to target,” according to KTVU.

His political evolution appears to be convoluted. The San Francisco Chronicle reported that while living in the city, he was a member of the far-leftist Green Party. But later, he appeared to take a rightward shift. However, it is important to note that despite what the media claims, plenty of leftists have bought into the QAnon conspiracy theory. Nevertheless, the QAnon connection is what Democrats are using to pin this matter on the Orange Man What Is Bad™.

Some have speculated that this incident is more of a domestic dispute between Paul and DePape. The fact that there was no security present to stop the attack seems to indicate that the two men knew each other. There is also the report that DePape was in his underwear at the time.

However, the suspect does have a history of drug use, and he was also a fan of public nudity. Moreover, he seemed intent on confronting Nancy Pelosi face-to-face. His list of other politicians also seems to suggest that this might have been politically motivated.

Nevertheless, it is still early, and other evidence might surface to indicate another motive for the attack.

Editor’s note: this article has been edited for accuracy after publication. KTVU put out the report alleging the attacker was only in underwear, but as RedState reported later, they pulled that report back. We regret the error.
