The Democrats Are Not Done With Impeachment Yet

On Wednesday, the Senate put an end to the Democrats’ attempt to remove President Donald Trump from office through the impeachment process. But if you think this marks the end of the impeachment saga, you might want to think again. There are indications that this was just the first chapter of the Democrats’ endeavor to oust the president. Indeed, some on the left are already signaling that another push for removal might be in the works.

It’s not hard to see why the Democrats might give impeachment another go. After all, imagine what they think they could accomplish by making Trump the first president to be impeached twice? According to The Washington Times, the progressive left intends to do just that.

In a recent piece discussing the matter, The Times noted that there is still an ongoing investigation into the president along with his family an businesses. The probe was originally launched by none other than Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA), who led the effort to impeach Trump. He is also famous for continually lying about possessing evidence that the president colluded with the Russian government to influence the 2016 election.

The purpose of the investigation is to uncover any type of wrongdoing perpetrated by Trump or his associates. The probe was launched due to Schiff’s supposed suspicions about blackmail, money laundering, and bribery. Of course, the congressman has not yet bothered to explain why he has these suspicions, but it can be assumed that his justification has something to do with “Orange Man Bad.”

Republican staffers told The Washington Times that the investigation was “put on hold” last fall due to the impeachment proceedings. But apparently, Schiff has not given up hope of removing Trump from office, and is banking on charges that could arise from this probe. The president seems unperturbed by Schiff’s investigation and another potential impeachment attempt.

“So we will probably have to do it again, because these people have gone stone-cold crazy, but I have beaten him all my life and I will beat him again if I have to,” he told reporters during a post acquittal celebration at the White House. He added, “But what they are doing is very unfair.”

But Schiff is not the only one who still pines for impeachment. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, also known as “Nancy The Ripper,” assured progressives that the investigations would continue. House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerrold Nadler (D-NY) also chimed in, explaining that it is “likely” that the Ukraine probe will also continue. And, for some reason, the committee is still looking into uncovering evidence of any Trump-Russia election scandal they can find or, more likely, manufacture.

So let’s get this straight. There can be no doubt that the failed impeachment effort has helped Trump and likely increased his chances of winning re-election in November. Not only that, the Senate vote on Wednesday was only the latest in a series of disasters for the Democratic Party. Remember, they made it abundantly obvious that they were seeking to impeach President Trump from the moment he took office — it’s obvious that their motivation is partisan in nature and has nothing to do with upholding the constitution or democracy.

So why would they want to go through this again? There could be several reasons. Firstly, the Democrats know they don’t have a contender who can beat Trump in November. The field of candidates they have put up are either too old, too white, or too socialist to win the number of voters they would need to challenge the president. At this point, it seems that the only way to get Trump out of office is to mount another impeachment offensive — especially after he wins.
