It looks like everyone’s favorite race-baiter is at it again. After President Trump ordered the airstrike that killed Iranian General Qassem Soleimani, Democrats and their close friends and allies in the press launched into spin mode, looking for ways to use the strike as a political attack against the Trump administration.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez jumped into the fray, calling the president a “monster,” and claiming that he would engage in “war crimes.” But today, she lashed out at a Republican  member of Congress for criticizing Rep. Pramila Jayapal (D-WA) for telling a bald-faced lie about the information that led to the airstrike. And what line of attack did AOC use? She called him a racist.

What, were you expecting Ocasio-Cortez to come up with something more original? You know better, dear reader.

After a recent congressional briefing on the airstrike, Rep. Jayapal told reporters that there was “no evidence of an imminent threat or attack,” that would warrant the assault. She said:

“President Trump recklessly assassinated Qasem Soleimani. He had no evidence of an imminent threat or attack, and we say that coming from a classified briefing where again, there was no raw evidence presented that there was an imminent threat.”

Rep. John Rutherford (R-FL) called out Jayapal in a tweet referencing a report from The Hill on her falsehood. “I was in the same briefing as you, @RepJayapal, and this is absolutely false,” he tweeted. “You and your squad of Ayatollah sympathizers are spreading propaganda that divides our nation and strengthens our enemies. #Iran”

Apparently, Rep. Ocasio-Cortez didn’t appreciate seeing one of her comrades being called out for trying to deceive the American public. But since she could not debunk Rutherford’s remarks, she just called him a racist. “I find it highly amusing that my coworkers angrily yell stuff like this and then clutch their pearls and cry when they are called out for their racism,” she retorted in a tweet of her own.

Rep. Rutherford was right, of course. Shortly after Soleimani’s demise, the Pentagon issued a statement explaining that the general was preparing to launch more attacks on Americans in the region. “General Soleimani was actively developing plans to attack American diplomats and servicce members in Iraq and throughout the region,” they said. “This strike was aimed at deterring future Iranian attack plans. The United States will continue to take all necessary action to protect our people and our interests wherever they are around the world.”

The statement also pointed out that Soleimani had orchestrated attacks on coalition bases in Iraq over the last several months. This includes an assault that killed an American contractor and wounded U.S. and Iraqi personnel.

So, it’s pretty clear that Jayapal was attempting to mislead the public. But what about AOC’s baseless allegation of racism? Well, on its face, there is absolutely nothing about Rutherford’s comment that had anything to do with race. Democrats of all races are siding with Iran against the United States. In fact, filmmaker Michael Moore — who is undoubtedly melanin-challenged — hasn’t shut up about how wonderful Soleimani was since the news broke about his death.

Moreover, Jayapal is not Persian — she is Indian. Rutherford couldn’t have possibly been referring to her race. So there really isn’t a rational reason to pretend Rutherford’s remarks were motivated by racial bigotry. But as we know, being a far-left progressive means never having to make sense when you’re throwing out false accusations of bigotry.
