Hillary Clinton's Lead Crumbles

Hillary-Trump

A new CNN/ORC poll finds Donald Trump tops Hillary Clinton among likely voters:

  • Donald Trump – 45%
  • Hillary Clinton – 43%
  • Gary Johnson – 7%
  • Jill Stein – 2%

While both The Donald and Hillary have secured the support of their respective parties, Independents give Trump an important and yuge edge:

Among those likely to turn out in the fall, both candidates have secured about the same share of their own partisans (92% of Democrats back Clinton, 90% of Republicans are behind Trump) but independents give Trump an edge, 49% say they’d vote for him while just 29% of independent voters back Clinton. Another 16% back Johnson, 6% Stein.

According to CNN, nearly half of voters are less enthusiastic about voting in this election than they have been in previous years. This is the first presidential election year CNN/ORC and CNN/USA Today/Gallup in which a significantly larger share of voters say they are less enthusiastic about this year’s election. A majority of Clinton’s supporters are less excited about voting this year than usual (55%) while most of Trump’s backers are more excited this time around (56%).

The poll also found Trump has his largest edge of the campaign as the more honest and trustworthy of the two major candidates — 50 percent say Trump is more honest and trustworthy and only  35 percent say the same about Hillary. Hillary’s ongoing truthphobia or lyingitis and her never ending email scandal continue to undermine her presidential campaign.

The CNN/ORC Poll was conducted September 1-4 and has margin of error of plus or minus 3.5 percent. Hillary’s numbers will likely be even worse in polls which are taken after her basket of deplorables comments and now that her 9/11 medical episode has made  her health a legitimate and concerning issue.
