I was reading Becky Noble's latest article about how American feminists seem furious over the attacks in Iran, and like many of you, have a response somewhere between abject confusion and actual laughter. Maybe even both.
As Noble notes in her Monday article, American feminists are incensed that President Donald Trump would attack a country and topple a government:
It's obvious that American feminists have a lot on their plates and are simply too busy to support women who, under the previous regime, could be arrested and beaten for showing too much hair while wearing the mandatory headscarf. But their reasoning for not supporting Iranian women goes much deeper. As dedicated leftists, virtue signaling is at the top of their to-do list. That includes making sure that they, in no way, would be encouraging any Islamophobia, and thus, putting Muslims in the West in any danger. Convoluted, sure. But when TDS clouds your brain, it all makes sense.

Noble is absolutely correct here. The modern Affluent White Female Leftist (AWFL) is so hardwired to hate Trump that if he saved a puppy in the middle of the street from being run over, they would accuse him of endangering the lives of people on the road over a dog.
The bizarre thing about all of this is that, as "feminists," they should be dancing in the streets just like the Iranian women, as they've literally been freed from a patriarchy that kept them from expressing themselves and forced them to live in fear of reprisal for minor offenses. Yet, they're not. As Noble points out, they're marching in the streets to protest the impending fall of an oppressive regime with the help of Israel.
The left is conducting "Hands off Iran" protests.

Meanwhile, the Iranian regime murdered 36,500+ protesters in 48 hours three weeks ago.

While I do agree that TDS plays a large part in their reaction here, I'd have to boil down their reaction to all of this to something a bit more deep-seated.
I think the modern feminist ego has a lot to do with this. Let me explain.
One thing that modern feminism pushes on women is the expansion of their ego. While men often get a bad rap for theirs, feminism wants women to be more like men without saying that, and one thing they push is self-importance, because they believe that's a male trait.
Modern feminism urges women to consider themselves infallible and perfect, that they're deserving of everything for just existing. That they're goddesses and boss babes. Slay queen! All the while telling them that they're victims of men, particularly a "white patriarchy" that has to be resisted and denounced at every turn. Most women may absorb some of this, but others take the whole thing hook, line, and sinker. You'll know them by the dramatics, the anger, and sometimes the red "Handmaid's Tale" cosplay they do when they want to pretend they're being oppressed.
This, naturally, creates an ego of iron. Self-adulation is reinforced by the mainstream media repeatedly. The thing is, when you pair a victimhood mentality with your ego, you tend to become personally indignant about being wrong.
And there's a lot to be wrong about for feminists lately, including the nature of Trump's administration, American values, and even the "white patriarchy." When Trump took the actions against Iran, effectively setting the stage for the collapse of the Islamic regime's hold on the country, the AWFLs were presented with something undeniable without some serious mental gymnastics.
Which is exactly what the leftist feminists are doing right now. Their ego is being threatened as they watch these women dance in the streets after Trump helped liberate them from an actual patriarchy, but if they were to celebrate the freedom of women, they would have to embrace the idea that perhaps the Trump administration isn't that bad which would, by the rules of the radicals, be the same as giving kudos to the dreaded white patriarchy that interfered with a more melanated country's government.
If they're wrong about this, then it undermines everything their ego is built upon. As such, they have to pretend not to understand that the women of Iran want this and are joyful for it. They have to pretend that what Trump is doing is nothing short of imperialism in the name of a capitalist, white patriarchy. They have to pretend that the people of Iran are just the latest victims of America's evil desire to own everyone and everything.
It's amazing how much reality they will deny to keep their egos safe, but it's not uncommon. You can find this throughout the left too. It's easier to deny reality and continue siding with the very thing you say you hate than have to deconstruct yourself, reexamine your principles, and risk becoming a pariah in your own circles.
But that's the modern left, especially modern feminists who consider themselves "intersectional" when it comes to what they're fighting for. They're trapped in their own lie by choice.
