Wow... yesterday, huh?
The dust-up between Elon Musk and Donald Trump had people glued to their screens, waiting to see who fired back with what next. The back and forth culminated in Musk making the serious accusation that Trump was on Epstein's list, which caused jaws to drop and fingers to fly over keys.
My prediction? This was all going to end in a hug.
My prediction:

Trump and Elon are going to hug it out.
This got out of hand so fast it feels forced on both ends and I think both with realize it went too far and they'll come back together as friends.
"That's crazy, Brandon"
YEAH BUT HAVE YOU SEEN THIS TIMELINE?
The thing about both Musk and Trump is that when they see a barrier in front of them, they swing hard, and given the power they both have, their blows could be heard around the world. This was a Godzilla v. Kong fight that, despite having no atomic breath or gargantuan size, was just as fascinating to watch.
But this wouldn't be the first time Trump went in on someone who is on his side. Both of his campaigns feature him ripping his opponents on the Republican side to pieces to achieve his goals, and the majority of them ended up being friends with him later. Ted Cruz, Marco Rubio, and even Ron DeSantis are all examples of enemies who became allies.
I don't see Musk being any different, and as Bonchie reported on Friday, it looks like the hug I foretold of is coming:
Separately, White House aides, after working to persuade the president to temper his public criticism of Musk to avoid escalation, scheduled a call Friday with the billionaire CEO of Tesla to broker a peace.

Some will see this as irreparable, but I'm not so sure. Not only are these two men close enough to each other that Musk was allowing his own son to tag along with Trump on Marine One, but up until this oppositional moment, the two were practically best friends. What we saw wasn't a clashing of political agendas, but one of egos, and that's far easier to fix.
Political relationships tend to be relationships of convenience, but both Musk and Trump have demonstrated that politics, or even self-enrichment, were not the point of obtaining power. They love the country and want to see it, and its people prosper, and we just arrived at a fork in the road where two men had different ideas on how to get there. It's the same goal in the end, so I have no doubt that they'll find commonality again, and probably sooner than later.
That said, infighting is kind of a feature of the GOP, not a bug.
I think people forget that we're a part of individualists trying to work together. We all have differing ideas on how to accomplish these goals, and one detail might be more important to one person than another. We have different approaches for different solutions, and this often causes us to fight it out.
This sometimes bites us, as we're so busy fighting each other that we allow Democrats to slip through in our dysfunction and achieve goals or positions in office.
It's one of the largest drawbacks to be sure, but it's also what keeps the GOP individualist, honest, and focused on the big picture.
The Democrats cannot say the same. While they are currently in their own civil war, it's not one that focuses on the best way to continue on the American dream and keep the nation strong, it's one for control of the Democrat Party. When they aren't infighting, Democrats tend to fall into lockstep. If the Party says they believe X, then the rest of its followers adopt that belief, no questions asked.
It sure does make it easier to get things done, but it also allows for a lot of corruption, ill-intent, and anti-societal behaviors to spring up thanks to the brainwashing and lack of critical thought.
The GOP largely doesn't suffer from this problem because one member is willing to call out the other and make them defend their position with logic and facts. We keep each other grounded.
Iron sharpens iron.
The infighting over ideas can be very bothersome. I get it, but it's part and parcel of a healthy society. If we weren't questioning each other, fighting for our beliefs with our chests out, and learning from each other, our country would have fallen long ago.
The goal isn't to stop the infighting, it's how best to conduct and utilize it.
