Mark Hamill Is Being Roasted Alive on Bluesky for Promoting Christian Movie 'King of Kings'

In one of the best examples of "sleep in the bed you made" moments you'll ever see, Star Wars actor and voice of the Joker, Mark Hamill, decided to promote his new film on Bluesky. The only trouble is that this particular film involves the celebration of Jesus Christ, and Bluesky is a place where you won't find a lot of Jesus fans.

Hamill plays King Herod in the new King of Kings movie, which revolves around the telling of the life of Christ through the words of Charles Dickens. The film is already doing phenomenally in theaters, and was on course to shatter records from its pre-sale tickets alone.

The film has been very well-received, with a 97 percent audience rating from Rotten Tomatoes. According to my colleague Katie Jerkovich, the film has had the best opening ever for an animated Biblical movie, including The Prince of Egypt.

Hamill established a presence on Bluesky after Trump's 2024 win, saying that X has become something of a wretched hive of scum and villainy, and he wasn't the only one.

Many leftists decided to make Bluesky their home in an effort to get away from the conservatives who were now free to be heard on the platform after Elon Musk's purchase and conversion of Twitter into the free-speech platform known as X.

So when it came time to promote a movie with a subject that conservatives typically like, Bluesky had a very negative reaction.

Witness the glory of "the greatest story ever told" all through the wide-eyed eyes of wonder of a small boy (& his cat). An amazing cast in an awesome family film for children of all ages! THE KING OF KINGS is in theaters TODAY. #KingOfKings

"I'm a huge fan, Mr. Hamill; you made my childhood a happy place, but I'm going to pass on this one. With the current slew of Christian Nationalists warping Christianity and demonizing the vulnerable,  i want no part of religion," said one respondent

Apparently, on Bluesky, there's a real idea that America is being taken over by evil Christian nationalists, and this movie only promotes Christian nationalism.

"As I mentioned in your other post... Too many are being 'othered' right now by the rise in Christian nationalism," posted another person. "Including my own LGBTQ+ family. Until Christians actually abide by the teaching of Jesus, it is difficult to get behind a project like this, no matter how much I admire your work."

What teachings those are was not elaborated on.

"Teaching children about white jesus. Not cool bro," said another Bluesky denizen.

"Hard pass," said another. "This came on as a preview before seeing the Minecraft movie with my son. Nothing like a 3min religious commercial at the movie theatre!? That’s an oof."

Then there was this exchange that happened in Hamill's comments. Apparently, Bluesky users think Satan was a "cool dude."

Most of the comments either revolve around why Hamill was taking part in a movie like this and expressing their disappointment, or saying that Hamill being in a movie that revolves around fantasy is pretty typical for him.

I can practically hear the smirks on their faces as they typed it.

Not that any of it matters. No matter how much the leftists on Bluesky badmouth the film, it's not going to harm it. In fact, it would probably only make it more successful thanks to a dash of spite for the smug.

Have you seen it yet?
