The DNC Has All the 'Joy' of a Games of Thrones 'Red Wedding'

Happy, happy, joy, joy.

The DNC is chock-full of electricity and elation as they get their second shot at trying to put the first woman into the position of president and, what's more, she's not white this time! Why, it's the summer of love all over again! Everyone in the Democrat Party is just giddy and excited! They're united and ready to push the nation forward into a bright new future together!

Or at least that's what they want you to think, but if you pay attention for even a moment to what's going on both inside and outside the DNC convention room, the "joy" looks a lot like Game of Thrones, and in a very Season Eight kind of way.

Let's start with what's going on outside. The Democrats are well aware that their years of ginning up hatred and spite among their followers has resulted in groups willing to get violent, disrupt proceedings, and more, and as such they erected border fences around the convention center in order to keep out the problem. I don't think I need to point out the hypocrisy around this.

But they are right. Outside, demonstrators, protesters, and rioters swarm the streets, posing a threat to anyone who isn't them. Chicago's finest are there in force, complete with riot gear and the orders to arrest people left and right in order to keep the riots in check.

Thankfully the PD are allowed to their job (only to protect Democrats) because these people are very clear that they're not looking to talk nicely.

And these are just a few of the videos. There are a lot more rioters with causes for days that they feel the need to get violent about. But the Democrats created this "joy" though decades of pushing fear, loathing, spite, and more.

But what's going on inside the DNC?

Backstabbing, awkward moments, accusations, lies, manipulation, and possibly a little revenge.

Right now, a lot of coverage about the DNC's second night is on RedState, and it tells a story centered so much around "joy."

As Joe Cunningham wrote, while both parties utilize fear to get people to vote, the Democrats excel at it, particularly Barack Obama who has mastered the art of selling fear with a smile:

And the Democrats are still struggling to escape the fear-mongering and lay out the definitive case for middle-of-the-road voters to choose Harris over Trump. They much prefer to scare people into voting against Trump.

Neither side is blameless in the use of fear and cynicism to scare voters. But Obama used division like few others have in the modern era, and he did so with a smile on his face. He is doing so again, and this time to a party that claims to have a monopoly on "JOY," when most of this rhetoric is anything but joyful.

Watching the end of night one, I made the observation that the end of the night "felt like the DNC's middle finger to Joe Biden," removing him from prime time and keeping him up later than the frail old man had any right to be based on the fact that he committed a grave sin against the DNC in the form of threatening its hold on power, which he absolutely did. Today, as Nick Arama wrote, Biden's team is unhappy with his treatment, and the word "revenge" has been thrown around.

As Arama also wrote, Harris had to skip out on the Obamas' speeches because the optics of Harris cheering on and standing next to the people who led the charge to dethrone Biden would look bad:

“Obamas are still not on the White House good side,” a source familiar with the situation said. “It would not be helpful to their relationships.”

Fox is told this plan came together to avoid the optics of Harris -- still serving as Biden’s Vice President -- appearing alongside one of the figures he views as responsible for driving the end of his reelection bid -- at the very convention which was supposed to be his only weeks ago.

“We are in tricky territory,” this source said.

So much joy!

You could tell how joyful Biden was by his own speech, which featured a lot of angry yelling

If this what joy looks like, then I'll take the mean tweets and better economy, please.

This is a building filled with people who are trying to convince themselves things are going great, while outside in the streets are people who are demonstrating a realistic representation of what's going on inside.
