You probably didn't watch President Joe Biden's speech at the DNC when it happened, and to be honest, I'm pretty sure Joe Biden wishes he wasn't there to give it. In fact, the only people I think enjoyed the display were the bitter members of the DNC who despise Biden, which could include many of the more powerful figures of the Democrat Party.
As Nick Arama wrote on Tuesday, the Biden speech was filled with awkward moments, mumbling, fumbling, and half-hearted crowd chants that died quickly. By the time it rolled around, I'm pretty sure most of America had tuned out and those at the DNC were ready to call it a night and head to their hotel rooms to enjoy the peaceful sounds of Chicago traffic and crime.
The man didn't take the state until 11:30 at night. The mere fact that Biden made it to that stage at that time is a borderline miracle that probably involved a lot of uppers.
Nick put the scene well:
That's pretty sad that after more than 50 years in office that they not only shoved Biden out of the race contrary to the vote of the people, but to the late hour so far fewer people would hear him. It was already scheduled too late as it was, if you truly meant to honor him.
Once again, it shows they will throw anyone under the bus in the name of what helps them hold onto control.
But it was Greg Price on X who said something that I thought was incredibly poignant. A simple phrase that is very likely the reason as to why they kept Biden out way past his bedtime to give a speech few people were actually going to see.
Humiliation ritual.
"Democrats strong armed Biden off the ballot for re-election and are now running their convention so far behind that his farewell address to the party will be way past his bed time," Price posted on X. "This is truly the ultimate humiliation ritual."
Two things.
One, at this point the Democrats know Biden is an embarrassment and that even with a boatload of Adderall and a teleprompter, his slipping cognitive function is going to cause him to slip up and embarrass everyone. Keeping him at arm's length from prime time is definitely a wise move.
That said, I can't help but think this is also something of an insult to Biden.
They know his health is failing and that he has no business pushing himself this hard. This is not something you make an old man do. In any other circles, this would be called irresponsible. In the Democrat Party, it feels a little more intentional, given what Biden has done.
I say this over and over again. The Democrat Party doesn't care about anything but power and money. That's it. You don't matter. There are no friends there, just relationships of convenience and use.
Joe Biden threatened that power by delivering a debate performance that effectively guaranteed the election being handed to the Republicans, and then refused to step down until it became clear he had no choice. Let's not pretend that they have any hope in Kamala Harris. They don't. Biden screwed the Democrat Party over this election season, and this could have incredible ramifications down the line, especially considering the fact that Trump will likely come into office with a desire for blood after all they put him through.
Biden committed an unforgivable sin in the Democrat Party, and for that, he was booted from a prime-time spot for his farewell address, not just from the Democrat Party and his time as president, but from the stage of history. In a petty move, they kept him up far later than he should have, knowing his frail body and mind would feel it both that night and the next day.

People say this is the look of guilt for being part of the insurrection that took Biden out of the race... but have you ever known Pelosi to feel guilty about anything? The woman is the most power-hungry character in Washington.
No, this was all a slap in Biden's face for his transgressions despite decades and decades of service to the Democrat Party. He didn't just get in the way, he tripped them up, and they aren't taking this lightly.
