Texas Is Right

On the occasion that I leave the country, and people ask me if I'm American, I've always had the habit of indicating that I'm "Texan." Perhaps it's that intense Texas pride we Texans have, but I've always considered myself a Texan before I'm an American.

For years and years, Texas has been at the receiving end of an invasion that has, in recent years, become so overwhelming that it's bled into the rest of the states up north. The illegal immigrants aren't even just the refugees looking for a better life, either. Cartel members, sex and drug traffickers, and even Middle-Eastern terrorists have utilized Texas's open border to sneak their way into the United States.

Texas has attempted to stop the invasion on many occasions but has always been stymied by the federal government in some way. Border Patrol agents belonging to the Federal Government have been punished for doing their jobs and lawsuits from Biden's DOJ have hit Texas in its attempt to stop the invasion.

Which brings us to today. Texas is now actively defying the federal government's orders to stop doing what's necessary to halt the invasion. Abbott has ordered the Texas National Guard to stop Border Patrol agents from approaching the border and interfering with Texas's efforts to stop illegal aliens from entering the country. The Supreme Court ruled federal agents had the right to tear down any barriers erected by Texas, but Texas Governor Greg Abbott disagreed wholeheartedly and continued to do his duty of protecting Texas and its people, a responsibility the federal government long abandoned.

As Ward Clark mentioned in his latest piece, there have now been calls for the federal government to seize control of the Texas National Guard, a move that could result in some serious escalation between Texas and the federal government, but the important point here is that despite the federal government being the authority here, Texas is still in the right according to the law:

Governor Abbott has the Constitution on his side; the Biden Administration is clearly in dereliction of duty in their utter failure to secure the border states against invasion, as he is constitutionally required to do. Texas has clearly had enough. Governor Abbott is arguing that he has the Constitution, Article I, § 10, Clause 3 on his side, and the plain language of that section seems to support his claim; one can hardly deny that 6 million illegal aliens entering our country since January 2021 is anything other than an invasion.

The bottom line here is that Texas is doing exactly what it should be doing, and not only that, it's doing what the federal government should be doing. By actively resisting illegal immigration from the south and pushing back illegal attempts at stopping Texas from defending its borders from the North, Texas has become the de facto authority here, at least in this situation.

Because Texas isn't just defending its own border, it's defending America's border. It's doing the job the federal government abandoned.

Texas is America's border patrol at this juncture, and while that's a sad state of affairs, Texas must resist the federal government to do its job.

While I could say that this says a lot about Texas, no one is surprised by its independence. What this does say, however, is a lot about the state of the federal government. It makes you wonder whose side it's really on. It makes you wonder what the plan is if the plan isn't to protect the nation from invasion.

Texas is right to do what it's doing, and not just because it's right for Texas but because it's right for all the other states as well. At this point, Texas is more American than America.

I'm proud to identify myself as a Texan.
