It is not too difficult to glean what the main dose of coverage in the press was last week. Many outlets focused primarily on the tensions and upheaval, which led to misleading efforts by many. Sure, some Davos reports and hand-wringing over Greenland were peppered in the news cycle, but Minneapolis was the main issue for many.
A common theme seen from the news outlets was a perpetual cycle of criticizing the president and the administration. They were clearly not concerned about clouding and polluting the news coverage as they went with this default position in the reporting.
THE CONTENDERS
MS NOW – Reporter Jake Traylor denied that the BLM organizers were paid protestors, and then, after dismissing President Trump using anecdotal evidence, Traylor relied on anecdotes from biased protestors to prove him wrong. Correspondent Josh Einiger recast the ICE complaints, now saying those rounded up by agents were only previously convicted and adjudicated. Nicolle Wallace was unsurprisingly 100% in favor of the violent protestors.
New York Times – After complaining about President Trump’s immigration crackdown and sending troops into cities to deal with crime, the “Paper of Record” was completely baffled by how the murder rate plummeted last year. The paper dramatically covered the story of a “baby teargassed by ICE”, missing that the parents abandoned the child to join in a protest. The Times’ political image correspondent commented about U.S. Border Patrol Commander‑at‑Large Gregory Bovino wearing a winter overcoat that brought comparisons to Nazis, even as she stated the coat has been worn by leaders on all sides during the World Wars.
Politico – Tried to show a wave of Trump voters turning on the president, based on a focus group of NINE people, held by the publisher of The Bulwark. The site excitedly announced it has a new communications director, who is a longtime PR voice for the Democratic Party. The outlet also took exception with Bovino’s jacket, but upon realizing it was not strictly “a Nazi coat,” it nevertheless saw military-related problems.
CNN – Panel where gun control advocate Cameron Kasky called Trump a confirmed sex trafficker. Clearly, the legal department had a word with the young man, as he walked back his claim, sheepishly. Audie Cornish sees the BLM activists who stormed the church as the real victims. She then came back a day later and realized the church mob was making the ICE protesters look bad. Dana Bash is squarely on the side of protestors, denying that a “handicapped woman” detained by ICE was a professional agitator, and then dismissing the church incident as the protesters merely using it as a “staging area.” Erin Burnett spoke with the organizer of the church mob, and despite there being plenty of video evidence, as the agitator claimed they simply came into the church and participated in the services, Ms. Burnett said, “I’m not going to dispute that.”

In complaining about ICE activities, Jonathan Capehart brazenly stipulated that ICE “kidnaps” people off the streets.
David Brooks acted confused over President Trump’s negotiating tactic of bold demands and then backing off to a lesser offer, which was his initial goal.
Following the church mob last Sunday, in a lengthy report on the Minneapolis upheaval, they managed to mention the mob in all of one sentence.
In covering the aftermath of the shooting with Renee Nicole Good, hostess Liz Landers described it as “the killing of an unarmed woman.” The same Landers, however, previously described the ambush attack on two National Guard troops in Washington, D.C., as a “shooting” and did not mention that one was murdered in the process.
Geoff Bennett spoke with a rare conservative guest and tried to establish that President Trump was acting in an especially imperialistic fashion regarding Venezuela. After Ilya Shapiro explained how other presidents had done the same, or more - such as Barack Obama in Libya - Bennett was dumbfounded and prodded for more criticism. “So is there any concrete action the president has taken so far that, in your view, you would say this crosses a constitutional line, full stop?”
Editor's Note: The mainstream media continues to deflect, gaslight, spin, and lie about President Trump, his administration, and conservatives.
