Round two of Elon Musk’s internal exposé at Twitter continued and the press continued to spin out of control. As revelations of targeted suspensions and shadow-banning were exposed there was a shift in the press. Moving away from years of “Shadow-banning is not taking place” they very quickly shifted to, “We all knew this was happening, this is nothing new!”
Meanwhile, we are seeing these same voices deflecting away by resorting to a mounting practice: More and more journalists are labeling themselves as “experts” on a topic, in some arcane fashion. By declaring themselves an “extremism expert” they then pretend to be the final authority on a topic. It leads, though, to a curious reality: These experts are diligent about not working.
