Sadly, the New Year’s Eve 2025 ISIS-inspired terrorist attack on Bourbon Street in New Orleans is still fresh in our minds. The attacker, whose name I refuse to mention, rammed a Ford F‑150 Lightning pickup truck into New Year’s crowds, then exited the vehicle and opened fire with a .308 AR‑10 rifle and a Glock pistol, killing 14 and wounding 57.
Police then shot him full of holes and sent him on to meet his maker, who could potentially show him a lot more mercy than I would.
On Wednesday, authorities arrested another murderous wannabe who planned to shoot up a festival in the Big Easy, and he’s a former police officer. He allegedly planned to take out as many innocent people as he could and then die by “suicide by cop.”
Remember this moment when folks like Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, Rep. Ilhan Omar (MN-05), or any other miscreants from the Dem mob trash law enforcement: there’s a thin blue line protecting us from evil.
Meanwhile, this guy’s a real looker:

Christopher Gillum is facing extradition to Louisiana after deputies say they recovered a handgun and about 200 rounds of ammunition from his hotel room, where he was allegedly planning the attack.

It could have been a major tragedy, but guess what helped crack the case? License plate readers.
Gillum was a police officer in Chapel Hill [North Carolina] between 2004 and 2019, when he resigned from his role. He returned to the police department as a non-sworn employee in 2024 before leaving for another job by the end of that year, Alex Carrasquillo, communications manager for the Town of Chapel Hill, told CNN.
Authorities did not say which festival Gillum allegedly intended to target, but the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, known as Jazz Fest, begins today and runs through May 3. The festival, founded in 1970, draws roughly 400,000 attendees each year. CNN has reached out to festival organizers for comment.
Gillum was taken into custody without incident Wednesday evening at a hotel in Destin, Florida, after the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office learned he was in the area through the county’s Flock camera system, the sheriff’s office said.

He was arrested in Destin, Florida, after authorities tracked him via license plate readers. A handgun and approximately 200 rounds of ammunition were recovered from his hotel room.
He now faces extradition to Louisiana on terroristic threats charges.
My unsolicited advice to authorities: Throw away the key.
