Donald Trump’s pick to succeed Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome “Too Late” Powell, Kevin Warsh, faced the Senate Banking Committee Tuesday for confirmation hearings, where several Democrats predictably trashed him and tried to get him to turn on the president.
Although it was an official hearing, there may not be a vote anytime soon because Sen. Thom Tillis (R-NC) is vowing to block one until the Department of Justice concludes its investigation into whether Powell made false statements about the $2.5 Fed construction project.
You would think a hearing about the Reserve, interest rates, and economics would be dry, but Massachusetts Democrat Sen. Elizabeth Warren brought some unintentional humor to the proceedings by breaking out her cranky, hen-pecking attitude when it was her turn to ask questions.
She kept badgering Warsh to disagree with Trump on something — anything. He did finally come up with an answer, but it certainly wasn’t what she was fishing for. Well-played, Kevin:
🚨 OMG. Trump Fed Chair Nominee Kevin Warsh is TOYING with Elizabeth Warren

WARREN: Name one aspect of Trump's economic agenda you disagree with.
WARSH: He said I'm 'out of central casting.' I'd look older, greyer and show up with a cigar of sorts. 😂
*Clapping*
WARREN: Quite… pic.twitter.com/wzAXwUaf6T
WARREN: Quite ADORABLE! 😠
This dude is awesome.
“Quite adorable,” she sneered. I could almost see the smoke coming out of her ears.

Now We Know: Trump Names His Pick to Replace Jerome Powell As Fed Chair
As our Susie Moore reported, Warsh has a diverse background:
Like Powell, Warsh is not an economist by training. Instead, he brings a background in law and finance that has shaped his views on the Federal Reserve.
He earned a bachelor’s degree in public policy from Stanford University in 1992 and a law degree from Harvard in 1995. He built his career at Morgan Stanley and, at 35, became the youngest person to serve on the Fed’s board in 2006.
He’s also made quite a bit of money, which clearly triggered several senators, including Warren, of course. Meanwhile, leave it to Louisiana GOP Sen. John Kennedy to bring some home-spun humor to offset the grim-faced Dems:
.@SenJohnKennedy calls out Pocahontas: Warren suggested you might use your power to bail out your friends if they get in trouble, kind of like Biden did with Silicon Valley Bank and Signature Bank...are you gonna do that?

WARSH: "No, Senator" pic.twitter.com/OH2F86h0Mh
It wouldn’t be a Senate hearing without some Dem hypocrisy, though, would it? Here, Sen. Bernie Moreno (R-OH) exposes how Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) just brings today’s talking points, not principles.
He was for Warsh’s nomination before he was against it:
.@berniemoreno reads Schumer's past praise of Kevin Warsh:
— RNC Research (@RNCResearch) April 21, 2026
“'He is committed to strong capital standards, effective supervision, and meaningful market discipline…' I wish I had said those words, but those are the words of Senator Chuck Schumer…”

The next steps will be written follow-up questions, followed by a committee vote to advance the matter to the Senate floor. We’ll see if Tillis continues to try to thwart that vote, or if that matter can be resolved.
In the meantime, however, who would have ever thought there’d be some funny moments at a Senate Banking Committee hearing?
Editor's Note: President Trump is leading America into the "Golden Age" as Democrats try desperately to stop it.
