Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent decimated the Democrats during the House Financial Services Committee on Wednesday.
It was something to see. He had Democratic Representatives melting down. He had Rep. Maxine Waters (CA-43) begging the Republican Chair of the Committee to "shut him up." Bessent asked then if she would "maintain some level of dignity." He had Rep. Gregory Meeks (NY-5) losing it, ranting at him for being a "flunky" for President Donald Trump.
Bessent also took down Democratic Rep. Stephen Lynch (MA-08).

But listen as 87-year-old Maxine Waters both denies, then admits that she was trying to have him shut up.
Rep. Maxine Waters: I didn't tell [Sec. Bessent] to shut up.

Me: You asked for him to be shut up.
Rep. Maxine Waters: No, I didn't.
Me: You did. You're on camera saying it. pic.twitter.com/WEGhCmk1rI
Which was it, Maxine? Yes, you did, you can't try to slip out of it.
Bessent just makes them all look silly. They know it, and then they get all flummoxed over it.
On Thursday, Bessent moved on to testimony before the Senate Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs Committee on the annual report of the Financial Stability Oversight Council, which he leads. There, he had a little fun with Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA), where he laid out that the "hoax" that President Donald Trump was talking about was the media trying to blame his administration for the problem that the Biden administration caused, a problem that Warren was "front and center" in.

Senator, it may be a bit nuanced for you, but what @POTUS is referring to is the media saying that the affordability crisis was generated by this administration, when it was you and President Biden who destroyed the buying power of the American people. So there is an affordability crisis — and you were front and center in it.
He's absolutely right. They weren't talking about an "affordability crisis" when Joe Biden was driving inflation up to nine percent, but they are now that Trump has it down to 2.7 percent? Come on, guys, be serious. And that's the problem, they aren't, so you can't have any respect for their opinions. So Trump has had to get a lot done after the mess that Biden left on so many issues, from the economy to the border, and everything in between.
This pretty much encapsulates Bessent: "polite savage." He's just completely calm and civil...while he cuts them to ribbons.
He is such a polite savage https://t.co/DDFDCIm5mA
