New Jersey Democrat Cory Booker may not be a particularly effective senator, but you got to admit, he’s pretty theatrical. The man who famously had what he called his “Spartacus moment” during Brett Kavanaugh’s 2018 Supreme Court confirmation hearings has been at it again in 2025, holding a “fake filibuster” where he bashed Donald Trump for 25 agonizing hours in March-April (yes, it was so long that it started in the third month of the year and ended in the fourth), then holding a sit-in on the Capitol steps with his good bud House Minority Leader Rep. Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY).
Almost no one noticed.
As if this weren’t all comical enough, Booker is now going to attempt to make some bank off his antics by writing a book. I’m guessing it will be a must-read if you’re an insomniac:
🚨NEW: Senator Cory Booker is releasing a new book, capitalizing on his 25-hour anti-Trump speech from earlier this year.

'Stand' will be published November 11, St. Martin’s Press announced today. pic.twitter.com/wx9ythRkgu

No word yet on whether he’s pitching the idea to Broadway producers.
The tome, titled “Stand”—as opposed to “Sit,” I guess—is set to hit your local bookstore this fall:
Democratic New Jersey Sen. Cory Booker’s new book “Stand” is set to hit the shelves this November, St. Martin’s Publishing Group announced Wednesday.
The book will serve as a follow up to the over-day-long anti-Trump speech Booker gave on the Senate floor from March 31 to April 1, according to AP. “It is time for good trouble,” an official synopsis of the book from Macmillan Publishers stated.
CNN pundit and unofficial DNC spokesman Brian Stelter will doubtless be first in line to get his copy:
"Sen. Cory Booker has expanded upon his historic Senate floor speech from last month into an upcoming book."

The title: "Stand."
It will come out in November. https://t.co/1rLy8aHPtd

The book will evidently celebrate that a person can become a hero by standing in one place for many hours:
The official “Stand” synopsis calls Booker’s speech “remarkable,” claiming that the senator “spoke out eloquently and forcefully against the Trump administration’s relentless challenges to civil liberties, government institutions, the rule of law, and our nation’s international standing.”
Booker called the Senate filibuster an “abuse of power” in 2022, according to Fox News, before giving his speech in April 2025…
The book synopsis further describes “Stand” as a call to action: “Now is not the time to surrender to cynicism or abandon our most noble ideals. Now is the time to defiantly declare like our ancestors before us: I too stand for America.”
It’s extremely difficult to tone the snark when talking about this guy (and I’ve utterly failed to do that here, I admit) because he’s so pompous, so self-righteous and so self-important that it’s hard to take him seriously. He’s in the minority party in the Senate, and the GOP holds the Oval Office and the House, yet he imagines that the world will drop everything and listen up when he has something to say. Between the endless speech and the “sit-in,” the public has for the most part shown they’re not interested.
You are no Spartacus, sir.
