Happy Pride Month - New Poll Shows Americans' Support for LGBTQ Issues Declining

Whether we like it or not, June has come to be known as "Pride Month." An entire 30 days during which those who engage in "alternative" lifestyles are celebrated, and rainbow flags are everywhere you look. Most American cities will have Pride parades at some point during the month, and even sports teams have "Pride Night." One of the founding principles of our nation is that every American is treated equally and fairly. The upholding of that idea should be important to all Americans. But a new poll shows that the militant LGBTQ movement is wearing thin.

A new Gallup poll released on Wednesday shows that Americans' support for LGBTQ issues may have reached its peak and is now declining. It also reveals that fewer Americans support same-sex marriage or viewing gay relationships as morally acceptable. The poll shows that while most Americans still support same-sex marriage at 65 percent, that support has fallen six percentage points since reaching its high in 2022 and 2023. Moral acceptance of gay and lesbian relationships has fallen to 62 percent, the lowest since 2016.

Much to the chagrin of radical leftists, acceptance of gender transition is even lower. Just 38 percent of Americans believe changing one's gender is morally acceptable, down eight points since 2021. Of those polled, 57 percent view gender transitioning as morally wrong. There are no surprises in the poll when broken down by party. Republican support for same-sex marriage is at 37 percent, down from 55 percent in 2021 and 2022. That support dropped six points among independents to 67 percent, while Democrats have remained steady at 87 percent. Americans have supported gay marriage steadily over the past 20 years, but support has dropped somewhat yearly since 2024.

Gallup claims that Republicans largely drive the shift in support. The fact that President Trump did well with young voters in 2024 might bear that out. Conservative activist Charlie Kirk's assassination in September of 2025 saw a huge uptick in young people embracing conservatism, making it cool, whether they are learning about it for the first time or "coming out" as conservatives on college campuses. Kirk's death also seemed to prompt those young conservatives, especially young men, to go back to church and rethink their faith.

Gallup also attributed poll results to Republicans and conservatives pushing back on diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) policies. But it's really very simple. No one cares what you do in your own residence. Don't shove your lifestyle down our throats, and leave the kids alone.
