I used to tell myself that I would never become my parents. What I mean by that is, remember when you were a teenager. Your parents were only vaguely familiar with what was popular and what you thought was cool--maybe just enough to ensure you were not harmed by it. But the older I get, the less hip I realize I am. My mom was right; old age is not for wimps.
So, as a normal, happily married woman, I certainly am not all that familiar with the "OnlyFans" website. Then I saw the story of Lily Phillips. What jumped out at me was not the details of her story but how sad it was. How does one arrive at such a place in life?

Lily Phillips is 23 years old and an OnlyFans "model." Apparently, one sets up a page on this website, and people subscribe what is a much racier version of Substack. Back in October, in order to generate some eye-opening content for her page, Phillips claimed she had sex with 101 men in one day. While all was good during the 24-hour sexapalooza, now, she is feeling well, regret? Emptiness? Gross? Perhaps all of the above.
Most people will look at this and think, "Don't feel sorry for her. She is an adult who made a conscious choice." That is true. But go beyond that. What has happened in this girl's life that brought her to such a place where she would make such a choice and believe that she has so little self-worth?

As I said, with someone who has a limited amount of knowledge about the porn industry, much less what goes on behind the scenes. I don't know if this happened to Lily Phillips, but I imagine that many people in that industry must have suffered some sort of abuse at some point in their lives. It is something so unimaginable that it can affect every aspect of your life in a myriad of tragic ways forever.
I'm no psychologist, but it must be how they become so easily detached from the mental aspects of sex, like love and commitment. Then, without getting graphic, it is the family hour here at RedState, there have to be some extreme physical aspects to this as well.
I cant help but feel desperately sad for #LilyPhillips. Her naivety is staggering, her low self esteem so obvious. The emotional mental impact will last a lifetime.

Whoever the men were, if you were say no 70, couldn't you see she'd had enough? Nobody stepped in and said no more
Maybe the saddest part of Lily Phillips' story is the fact that, at 23, she is living in the best time to be a woman in the history of the world. Even though the worldwide left blathers on about women losing rights, and points out the most extreme cases of women having no rights around the world, in a developed Western nation like Great Britain (where she lives), there are endless ways for women, especially young women just starting out in life to be successful, to be great. It is practically inconceivable that someone like Phillips would not seek out one of those ways to be great. Is the tradeoff money or fame?
My hope for Phillips is that somewhere down the road, she will meet a nice guy. One that truly loves and cares about her. One that she wants to settle down and have a family with. One that will make her want to just be normal and have a normal life. As many people who have done outrageous things on the internet have found out the hard way, the internet is forever. What happens if and when she tries to get a job? Granted, we all have a past full of stupid stuff, but does a company or organization want to hire someone with that in their past?
Finally, who are these guys?! It might seem obvious why they would want to participate in this. You might be saying, "C'mon, Becky, you know why!" On the surface, yes, I do. And while most of us are aware that male and female brains are wired completely differently, for at least one of these guys, is there not some glimmer of a thought of: what if this was your sister or even your daughter? Before you think otherwise, Lily Phillips said herself, she barely remembers any of the men who participated. So, you will not be famous. You were one body in a long line of them.
Phillips said that the whole thing made her feel "robotic" and "not good." Despite that, she is now going to attempt to break a record of having sex with 1,000 men, beating the record of 919 men set by adult film star Lisa Sparks in 2004, and says, “I dreamed it up with my assistant. I can’t wait … It’s very exciting. It will be a world record. A real challenge!” Wow.
I'm not naive; I know the porn industry is not going anywhere anytime soon, and people are free to choose the life they want to lead. But my hope would be that we could go about helping young women in a civilized Western society like Lily Phillips and all the others like her to look at themselves as more than just a world record.
Please tell me someone is checking in on Lily Philips. I'm praying for that girl. Yes, her actions were a choice. But whatever drives someone to do that definitely demonstrates severe difficulties. She's not okay.
