Thanks to our media friends to the north, Rebel News, we got news this week of more awesome pushback against progressivism run amok in Canada, thanks to outspoken Conservative Party leader, Pierre Poilievre. In 2023, my colleague Sister Toldjah chronicled some of his righteous indignation at the usual lefty targets, including at members of the Canadian legacy media who seem unable to do much "journalism" if it happens to contradict Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's narratives or makes the majority Liberal Party look bad.
In one instance, after the Rainbow Bridge border crossing crash at the U.S.-Canadian border in New York state, the conservative pol lambasted Paola Loriggio, a reporter from Canadian Press, who appeared to question some early remarks he made over the incident possibly being terrorism. S.T. wrote:
Loriggio asked him Thursday if he thought it was "responsible" to call the crash "terrorism when no U.S. or Canadian customs officials said that was the case." After she also cited Hochul's remarks, Poilievre launched into what has become a classic type of response from him - turning the tables on the media to point out the flaws in their questions, whether it be in the premise or something else, and then laying out the facts, making them look worse in the process.
Poilievre, who is vying to replace Prime Minister Justin Trudeau in the next election - which could take place as soon as next year, first took Loriggio to task over the fact that her employer had to make three corrections in a story recently, which presumably was about the same issue she was asking him about.
Then Poilievre was based while taunting the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC), doubling down on his calls for the state-subsidized news network to be defunded, something which S.T. pointed out is "a focal point of his national campaign" to become Canada's next Prime Minister and retire Trudeau.

Lapdog Media?
But he wasn't done yet. In Poilievre's latest barrage against what we often refer to here in the U.S. as the lapdog media, Rebel News reported that the Conservative leader railed against Trudeau's government providing a lifeline in the form of a "bail-out fund" for establishment-friendly news outlets like the CBC. He said the taxpayers were being charged unnecessarily for simply "spreading Justin Trudeau's" narrative, when the fund didn't do what Liberals claimed it would--create jobs:
A testy back-and-forth ensued Monday between Poilievre and The Canadian Press, after the former accused the latter of "spreading Justin Trudeau's message" on the taxpayer dime.
“Our Party does not support tax dollars for media outlets because that’s when we wind up with biased media like you who come here and articulate the Prime Minister’s Office talking points rather than delivering real news to the Canadian people,” he added. “You are a tax-funded mouthpiece to the Prime Minister’s Office. That is the reality.”
He also reiterated his vow to end the bailouts if he is elected as Canada's PM, Rebel News wrote, telling reporters that "[Conservatives] don’t want to give any tax dollars to the mainstream media."
But you need to see this hilarious video showing something else Poilievre shoved directly in the faces of the leaders of Trudeau's Liberal Party on the floor of the House of Commons this week.
A brief background: Poilievre stood up to question why Trudeau's government paid "$250M in contracts since 2015" to a company linked to a controversial company that made Canada's COVID-19 app, ArriveCan. He's not backing down at all here, asking the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) to investigate any malfeasance in the scandal--wherever that may lead.
In his remarks, in the midst of his fury at the progressives' wasteful spending, he got called out by the House Speaker over using an acronym in place of foul language.
Quick on his feet, he then came up with some words in their place.
