Good News: Arkansas GOP Gubernatorial Candidate Sarah Sanders Gets 'All Clear' on Cancer

Sarah Huckabee Sanders was just going in for a routine check-up earlier in September when doctors told her the news no one wants to hear —  she had thyroid cancer. But, thankfully, that early detection allowed for her surgery to take place on Friday.

Fox News:

Arkansas Republican gubernatorial candidate and former White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders revealed she had surgery to treat thyroid cancer on Friday.

Sanders said her doctor found the cancer during a check-up earlier this month and that the surgery to remove her thyroid and “surrounding lymph nodes” was successful.

“I want to thank the Arkansas doctors and nurses for their world-class care, as well as my family and friends for their love, prayers, and support,” Sanders’ campaign wrote in a statement. “I look forward to returning to the campaign trail soon. This experience has been a reminder that whatever battle you may be facing, don’t lose heart. As governor, I will never quit fighting for the people of our great state.”

Her doctor says Sanders has the “all clear,” calling her “cancer free,” and stating the surgery won’t “[slow] her down” from returning to the campaign trail soon.

Sanders’ doctor, John R. Sims, said Sanders will require continued treatment but that she is considered “cancer free” and should be “back on her feet within the next 24 hours.”

“I think it’s fair to say she’s now cancer free, and I don’t anticipate any of this slowing her down,” Sims said.

Now, there’s even more good news for the former Trump administration press secretary, who is now the Republican nominee for Arkansas governor in the midterms–she got to leave the hospital on Saturday,

According to a tweeted statement from her spokesperson, Judd Deere:

““Following successful surgery on Friday to remove her thyroid and surrounding lymph nodes and in consultation with her physician, Sarah was discharged from an Arkansas hospital — cancer free — today,” Deere wrote in a statement. “Sarah is in great spirits and remains grateful for the exceptional care and service provided by the doctors and nurses.”

Prayers for Sarah and her family, as they support her through a full recovery.
