On Monday, I covered Mexico’s deployment of 15,000 National Guard members to the U.S.-Mexico border (see much more here).

Well, leave it to Donald Trump Jr. to tweet out a zinger lambasting the Left in light of Mexico’s assistance.

As news of the country’s move broke, Jr. posted the following:

“Mexico doing more to protect America than Democrats. The Dems have lost their way… they are not your grandfather’s Democrat party any longer and haven’t been for far too long.”

He’s certainly right that what defines the Democratic Party has changed to a jaw-dropping degree.

And that guy, at the time, was considered a very Democrat Democrat.

So what the heck happened?

It seems to me that, in addition to moving toward open borders ideologically and maneuvering for the sake of acquiring the Hispanic vote, the party has traded principle for politics. In my opinion, congressional Democrats have decided their responsibility, above all, is to be the opposition party to the Republican presidency. He wants border security? No way, no how, no matter how it affects the nation.

That’s the way it appears to me, from the bleachers.

Am I right?

Either way, Don Jr. has an interesting point. And Mexico’s decision is a victory lap for Trump:
