Many on the Left have a peculiar idea: Someone who doesn’t obey the law against mass murder would be scared to death to break the one about making an unlawful gun purchase.
Perspective: In Utah, the punishment for buying a firearm illegally is up to ten years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
The state’s legal punishment for murder: death by firing squad.
Which sounds worse?
Noneheless, every time there’s a mass shooting, Democratic politicians and much of the media race to promote laws which would deter those afraid of 10 years’ imprisonment in order to control those who aren’t afraid of the firing squad.
That…what’s that called? Oh yeah — dumb.
Yet, in response to Saturday’s Chabad of Poway shooting in San Diego — in which a 60-year-old woman was killed and three others injured, including an 8-year-old-girl (here) — Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez reached for old faithful:
“The longer the Senate delays holding a vote on #HR8, the more we put Americans at risk.”
Heartbroken to hear of the San Diego synagogue shooting, particularly so on this final day of Passover.

HR8 = Requires a background check for every firearm sale.
As pointed out by RedState’s Elizabeth Vaughn Sunday, the 19-year-old perpetrator of the deadly Passover violence wrote a manifesto which included the following:
“Every Jew young and old has contributed to [mosque attacks in Pittsburgh and New Zealand]. For these crimes they deserve nothing but hell. I will send them there. … Make sure to call me a ‘white supremacist’ and ‘anti-semite’ or whatever bullsh** you spew to spook the normal fags.”
He also called President Trump a “Zionist, Jew-loving, anti-White, traitorous c***s***er.”
Oh — and he shot up a church and killed an old lady.
Does that sound like the target demographic for HR8?
It did, apparently, to AOC.

An armed hero stopped the shooter and prevented what could have been and even more horrific loss of life. California already has draconian gun laws.

If you haven’t heard, the murderer’s assault was thwarted in part by an armed agent of the U.S. Customs and Border Patrol (see much more here).
