Sarah Sanders: Forget the President's Tax Returns, Dems - You Wouldn't Be 'Smart Enough' to Understand Them

Democrats have been on a quest for years. Their Holy Grail: Trump’s taxes.

But according to White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders, the dummies on Capitol Hill aren’t smart enough to look through the Big Cheese’s returns.

On Fox Sunday with Chris Wallace, Sarah laid it out:

“I don’t think Congress — particularly not this group of congressmen and women — are smart enough to look through the thousands of pages that I would assume that President Trump’s taxes will be.”

She said America’s legislators aren’t likely to be TurboTax-savvy:

“My guess is that most of them don’t do their own taxes, and I certainly don’t trust them to look through the decades of success that the president has and determine anything.”

Given that most are multi-millionaires with money going in all kinds of directions, I’d say that’s a safe bet.

Furthermore, if ya ask Sarah, the Dems are going down a “dangerous, dangerous road” in requesting Trump’s tax documents — which they did, formally, earlier this month.

Ways and Means Committee Chairman Richard Neal’s led the way, asking IRS Commissioner Charles Rettig for over six years’ worth of The Donald’s dealings.

On Saturday, the chairman sent a 2nd letter, extending the deadline to April 23rd.

But guess what, Dems? The Artist of the Deal has said he won’t release ’em — he’s currently in the midst of an audit.

If Trump changes his mind, Congress’ll have some help goin’ through ’em.

The Hill reports:

If the House Ways and Means Committee obtains Trump’s tax returns, it could designate committee staff and staff from Congress’s Joint Committee on Taxation to help review the tax returns behind closed doors before the committee votes to make any of the returns public.

I don’t think they’ll have to worry about that. Something tells me Donald ain’t gonna budge.
