Think you had a bad week? Check out Jeremy Taylor’s.
On Friday, a snowmobiler found the 36-year-old Oregon resident in his SUV. He was then taken out of the woods via a large snow tractor, courtesy of a search and rescue team. He’d been missing for five days, having last been been seen getting gas on February 24th.
Jeremy loves to go off-roading and, apparently, he’s partial to taking his dog.
The jaunt didn’t go too well, as he and Ally got stuck in extremely deep snow on a U.S. Forest Service road.
The pair slept in their Toyota that night. When they awoke, the snow was worse. They tried to hike out, but the mountains of white were too immense.
Back at the car, they were in quite the frozen pickle.
On the 27th, the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office posted the following:
The Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public assistance in locating 36 year old Jeremy R. Taylor of Sunriver. He is described as 5’11”, 165lbs, blonde hair and blue eyes.
Jeremy was last seen this past Sunday, February 24th, getting gas in Sunriver and driving the unknown year black Toyota 4Runner in the photos. He is known to usually wear black pants with a black jacket, but his clothing is unknown. Jeremy is not believed to have a cell phone with him.
He is known to frequent the forested area to the west of Sunriver where he enjoyed off-roading. However, it is unknown where he was going after getting gas in Sunriver on Sunday.
If anyone has any information on Jeremy’s whereabouts or had talked to him this past weekend and knew of his plans on Sunday, please call into non-emergency dispatch at 541-693-6911 and speak to a Deputy.
Jeremy and Ally spent the week in their vehicle, employing two methods of survival: periodically cranking the engine to warm up, and eating Taco Bell Fire sauce.
There’s a lesson for ya: Next time you go to throw out those old packets, maybe leave ’em in your console. They could save your life. Or at least make you want a Double Decker.
No word on whether Jeremy shared his sauce with the dog.
On Saturday, he posted to Facebook a great big Thank You:
Jeremy’s lucky all this happened in Oregon. Had he been in (comparatively snow-free) Florida, if he’d petted Ally while they were stuck, he could’ve gotten a ticket.
