Now The Left Wants to Normalize Violence? They Won't Like What Happens Next

Since the attempt on the lives of Trump administration officials at the White House Correspondents' Dinner, when a far-left nutcase targeted not only the President of the United States but also the vice president, the first lady, the press secretary, who is pregnant and nearly at term, and a bunch of other administration officials, the debate about the normalization of political violence has come back to the fore.

We've discussed, here at RedState, across the Townhall media group, and across the conservative media as a whole, our concern that the left, that Democrats, are apparently trying to normalize political violence as a matter of policy. Not only have we seen three — not one, not two, but three attempts on the life of President Trump — and we've seen Democrat politicians and leftist so-called comedians, actors, and "influencers" making thinly veiled calls for violence; and sometimes those calls aren't so thinly veiled.

Here's what the left isn't considering: So, they're apparently calling for the normalization of political violence. What happens if they succeed? Let's look at the likely answer: They will lose, catastrophically, within a matter of days; maybe hours. Here's why, and I'm going to tell you.

First, our nation's military veterans are overwhelmingly on the right. In 2024, veterans voted for Donald Trump over Kamala Harris by a nearly two-to-one margin. These men and women — full disclosure, my wife and I are both Army veterans — are the people trained in the profession of arms, in the delivery of violence. What's more, we are taught to work in teams: Fire teams, squads, platoons, companies, even battalions. We've played this game before.

Second, our current military members and first responders are also overwhelmingly creatures of the right. With our military members, the same considerations apply as to our veterans, only perhaps rather more so; these are young, fit people, again trained in the profession of arms. And consider also that this encompasses first responders as well: fire, police, and emergency medicine personnel.

Third, Second Amendment supporters and gun owners are, again, overwhelmingly people of the right. Republicans are over twice as likely as Democrats to be gun owners. In fact, Republican women are almost a third more likely to be gun owners than Democratic men. And, if you ask me, Republican women are probably tougher, more self-assured, and more capable in general than Democratic men.

There's more. Take a hard look at how our modern lifestyle works, what it takes to keep everything moving, to keep everything working, and one thing becomes apparent, when looking at it from the perspective of the right: They need us. We don't need them.

We're the ones who build the houses and apartment buildings, the factories, the office towers, and the small business buildings. We're the ones who do the wiring, install the plumbing, run the cables for the internet.

They need us. We don't need them.

We're the ones who build the pipelines, run the trains, and drive the trucks that deliver the oil and gas to refineries. We're the ones who deliver the gasoline and diesel fuel to the service stations. We're the ones who build the cars, who repair the cars, so that people can go about their daily commutes.

They need us. We don't need them.

We're the ones who grow the crops, who raise the cattle and chickens, who process them, who bring them to the grocery stores where too many people never see their food until it is packed in sanitary packaging for purchase.

They need us. We don't need them.

We're the ones who build things, fix things, keep things moving, keep things working. We're the ones without whom the modern, technological lifestyle would collapse; that simply cannot be said for any number of Underwater Ethnic Dog-Polishing Studies majors.

They need us. We don't need them.

One wonders if anyone on the left has considered the implications of this.

The so-called "violent" left think they are wolves. What they are are sheep in wolves' clothing. Up here in Alaska, we know a thing or two about wolves; we live amongst them. We know that a wolf may wander away from the pack to do its own thing for a while; kick back, hunt rabbits, hang out. But when there is a big task ahead, a moose or caribou to take down, the wolves join back up. Why? Because the wolf's strength doesn't come from its legs, which let it run, nor from its fangs, which let it bite. No, the wolf's strength comes from its pack, which lets it hunt.

We're the wolves in this scenario.

If the left wants to normalize political violence, and if they succeed, they aren't going to like how that works out. In any conflict sparked by such a move, the left will lose, suddenly and catastrophically, within a matter of days — maybe hours. Why? Because when it comes to a scrap, as with almost anything else, we are just simply better at it than they are.
