In the wake of another attempt on the life of President Trump (and any other administration officials that the would-be assassin could have gotten a bead on) the calls to get the secure White House ballroom finished are coming fast and furious. There's a great argument to be made that this kind of attempt would be orders of magnitude harder to pull off in the completed White House ballroom; as President Trump has himself recently observed, the White House is on some of the most secure real estate on the planet.
And remember, President Trump knows a thing or two about real estate. When you hear him talk about the plans and progress in the building of the White House ballroom, that is apparent.
My friend and colleague Bob Hoge and I have already covered the need for this ballroom since the event unfolded late Saturday:

Now, the one person who may be America's last sane Democrat has weighed in, that being Senator John Fetterman (D-PA), and he agrees.
We were there front and center.

That venue wasn’t built to accommodate an event with the line of succession for the U.S. government.

And, as we might expect, President Trump took to his Truth Social account to reiterate his demand for the completion of the ballroom.
President Trump writes:
What happened last night is exactly the reason that our great Military, Secret Service, Law Enforcement and, for different reasons, every President for the last 150 years, have been DEMANDING that a large, safe, and secure Ballroom be built ON THE GROUNDS OF THE WHITE HOUSE. This event would never have happened with the Militarily Top Secret Ballroom currently under construction at the White House. It cannot be built fast enough! While beautiful, it has every highest level security feature there is plus, there are no rooms sitting on top for unsecured people to pour in, and is inside the gates of the most secure building in the World, The White House. The ridiculous Ballroom lawsuit, brought by a woman walking her dog, who has absolutely No Standing to bring such a suit, must be dropped, immediately. Nothing should be allowed to interfere with with its construction, which is on budget and substantially ahead of schedule!!!
Yes, it's past time.
Construction is halted right now by a lawsuit, but under the circumstances, clearly defined by the near-miss in what could have been a truly horrible event, it's time to revisit that lawsuit. It's time to get this built. It's not like the East Wing can be reassembled; it's gone. And it's not like things like this haven't been done before. Other than the original construction, finished in 1800, and the rebuilding after the War of 1812, completed in 1818, there have been numerous additions and modifications.
In 1824 and 1829, the South Portico and the North Portico, respectively, were added.
In 1881, what are described as "Victorian-Era Updates" were undertaken.
In 1902, under President Theodore Roosevelt, the White House was extensively modified, including separating sleeping quarters from offices.
In 1909, under President Taft, the West Wing was remodeled; this included the original construction of the Oval Office.
In 1927, A new roof and the entire third story were added.
In 1942, the East Wing was expanded, including the addition of the underground Presidential Emergency Operations Center.
In 1948 to 1952, engineers examined the aging White House and found it structurally unsound, prompting a complete renovation of the entire building that took several years. This was the time when the White House, more or less, assumed its current form.
There have been modifications since; the addition of a bowling alley, an outdoor pool, grounds, and garden updates. And now, a proposed, secure ballroom.
The point is, the White House is not a sacred edifice, nor is its configuration carved in stone. It can be remodeled. And now, as we see very plainly, it must be remodeled; this ballroom must be finished. Senator Fetterman is correct; the people opposing this need to set aside their Trump Derangement Syndrome, and we need to get this work done.
