The border has been a major issue in American politics for some years now. It was a major issue in the 2024 presidential election: the Biden administration's abdication of responsibility to enforce our border laws, that is. This was one of the primary issues that propelled Donald Trump back into office.
This is not simply a matter of people from Latin America sneaking in to find jobs picking lettuce and peaches, as Democrats would have us believe. This is a national security issue, and now, with the ongoing matter of Operation Epic Fury, it has become a more compelling issue than ever.
So, when we read that over 300 Iranian nationals were halted by border officials since President Trump resumed office, and that none of them were admitted into the United States, that's a bit of good news.
Since President Donald Trump has taken office, 307 Iranians who attempted to illegally enter the country have been apprehended by Border Patrol agents.
The number accounts for Border Patrol apprehensions nationwide between ports of entry and excludes U.S. Customs and Border Protection apprehensions at ports of entry.
The Center Square obtained the information from a Border Patrol agent on condition of anonymity for fear of reprisal.
It stands to reason that one doesn't come from Iran, through whatever torturous routes that this illicit journey entails, to try to breach the American border if one is on the up and up. These are almost certainly bad actors. They may be regime agents. They may be independent "lone wolf" jihadis. Of the two, the former are more dangerous, the latter, more random and unpredictable.
The good news, though, comes along with plenty of bad news from the previous administration.
The news comes after at least 700 Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps members have been identified in Canada who pose a national security threat, as U.S.-Canada border security threats continue, The Center Square reported.
It also comes after 1,500 Iranians were apprehended by Border Patrol agents nationwide from 2021 to 2024. Under the Biden administration, Border Patrol agents were instructed to release them even though Iranians are considered “Special Interest Aliens” and citizens of a designated State Sponsor of Terrorism.
Border Patrol agents released nearly half of the Iranians apprehended during the Biden administration, 729, who Trump officials say weren’t properly vetted, The Center Square exclusively reported.
If 10 percent of the Iranians caught and released into the United States are either agents or jihadis (or both), then that's 150 very bad people who were allowed into the United States despite the law, even though Iranians are "Special Interest Aliens" (and boy, is that ever an understatement). And now, as I am continually pointing out, we have very little idea now where these people are or what they may be planning. We have seen several incidents in recent weeks that can only be described as jihadi attacks, but those were, candidly, foolish attempts by useful idiots. If any serious regime agents are here, in the United States, now, they won't be driving trucks into crowds. They will be conducting unpredictable and random attacks on infrastructure, on the electrical grid, on water supplies. And they won't fight until brought down by an armed citizen or police. They will have a plan, they will strike, and they will disappear to carry out another attack somewhere else. These aren't useful idiots; these will be trained, well-equipped, committed, and smart. They will not act as we expect. And they will not be easy to catch.
The Biden administration, again, let these people in. And it's not just Iranians.

Undoing the malfeasances of the Biden administration in this matter will be the work of years.
The Trump administration is currently looking to apprehend at least 18,000 known or suspected terrorists (KSTs) who it says were released into the U.S. during the Biden administration, including hundreds of Iranian SIAs. The total also includes 2,000 Afghans released into the U.S. with “ties to terrorist organizations,” The Center Square reported.
Because Iran has never agreed to take back their citizens and because the U.S. is currently attacking Iran, Iranians who illegally entered the U.S. are apprehended, detained in the U.S. and prosecuted if charged with a crime. Or they are detained in the U.S. and sent to another country that has entered into an agreement with the Trump administration to detain them.
This is the job of more than one presidency. This is a job of decades, and even if Iran is liberated by the Iranian people and turns into a modern, stable, democratic nation, the agents and nutbars who are here in the United States won't be any less motivated; they may be more so. Iran, the Iran that is now being disassembled by American and Israeli explosives, is the beating heart of violent jihad. It's removal from the global scene may just inflame these people.
The Biden administration, again, let these people in.
Europe has an even greater problem. Their Muslim minorities will, in an other generation or two, be Muslim majorities. They are increasingly vocal about imposing Sharia in their enclaves and, in time, over the rest of the population. They are increasingly intolerant of criticism, and they are increasingly willing to resort to violence.
This is the great conflict of our time. Iran is just one theater in this conflict. It is a contest between civilization and barbarity, and the actions of American Democratic politicians have, arguably, lent aid to the enemy.
