A group of 60+ Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) of a considerable list of major corporations doing business in Minnesota have weighed in on the ongoing disturbance. As one might expect, they are calling for calming everything down.
We'll see if it has any effect.
Chief executives of Target, Best Buy, General Mills, Cargill and roughly four dozen other large Minnesota companies issued a public letter on Sunday calling for an “immediate de-escalation of tensions” in the state.
The letter marks the first time the most recognizable businesses in Minnesota have weighed in on the turmoil in Minneapolis amid the aggressive crackdown by federal immigration agents, which have sparked widespread protests throughout the city.
It is belaboring the obvious to note that it's the first time that the "most recognizable businesses in Minnesota" have weighed in, because this is something that's not exactly in their wheelhouse. It shouldn't take a letter from the CEOs of major corporations to prompt people to stop acting like idiots, or to point out that the government of Minneapolis and the state of Minnesota are utterly failing in their one job of protecting the liberty and property of their people.

The open letter states in part:
“With yesterday’s tragic news, we are calling for an immediate de-escalation of tensions and for state, local and federal officials to work together to find real solutions,” the letter states.
The letter was signed by top executives of Minnesota’s largest companies and large hospital systems, including Land O’ Lakes, Hormel, U.S. Bancorp, Mayo Clinic and 3M. It also was signed by local sports teams: the Minnesota Vikings, Minnesota Timberwolves, and the Minnesota Wild.
This letter is unlikely to have much effect; here's why, and I'm going tell you.
It won't have any effect on the "protestors," by which I mean rioters, because these are CEOs of major corporations. They are the arch-villains of the leftist world, second only to Orange Man Bad himself. They will dismiss any pleading by these CEOs and the companies they run, likely with a brush-off about them only worrying about the effect all this will have on their bottom lines. Granted, being concerned about the bottom line is part of a CEO's job, but they are doubtless genuinely concerned about all this. But then, the left is known for clownish oversimplifications of every major issue.
It won't have any effect on the Minnesota state government, either. Governor Walz and Attorney General Ellison are fellow travelers. They are down for the revolutionary struggle, and they won't care what a bunch of corporate executives have to say.
The execs tried to make their pleading neutral, and for the most part, they succeeded.
The letter from the Minnesota companies on Sunday struck a neutral tone.
“In this difficult moment for our community, we call for peace and focused cooperation among local, state and federal leaders to achieve a swift and durable solution that enables families, businesses, our employees, and communities across Minnesota to resume our work to build a bright and prosperous future,” the executives wrote.
Neutral is the best they can hope for, but one side in this affair doesn't care, and the other is already doing all they can to keep a lid on this.
