For most of us who have served, however ambitious or modest that service was (my own service was distinctly on the modest side), that service is one of the proudest things we have ever done with our lives. We took an oath to defend our country and our Constitution with our lives, and many of us knew personally of friends and brethren who did pay that ultimate price.
It's a proud thing to have done, which makes us all the more angry when a former soldier, wearing the colors fraudulently, pretends to be a still-active service member and lies about the men and women of the armed services that we loved and were so proud to have been a part of.
Which brings me to Texas, and this dishonest sack-o-crap:
The woman in this video was discharged from the Texas National Guard on June 5th, 2020.

This imposter says:
We are not pawns for Donald Trump's agenda. Why now? It's because the military was called upon against the protestors. In our oath to serve, we serve the people of the United States, the Constitution. Those constitutional rights are being stripped and just denied. And the military will not be pawns to that. That's why I'm calling on the conscience of military members who served previously and now, we have a conscience, we have a mind, and we have a duty. A moral duty to say no and resist,
The Uniform Code of Military Justice prohibits active soldiers from making political statements or engaging in protests while in uniform, but this person has been discharged, making that status a lot fuzzier. But let's just take a look at her statement:
The military was not called upon against "protestors." The military, in the form of the California National Guard and the United States Marines, was called upon to restore order in a city undergoing an actual rebellion against the civil authority. These were not protesters; these were rioters and rebels.
Yes, we take an oath to the Constitution, which oath includes that we are sworn to obey the lawful orders of officers appointed over us. That's what happened here; the soldiers and Marines were given lawful orders, originating with the National Command Authority - the President of the United States.
We do have a moral duty, yes, to defy, if necessary, illegal orders - but that's not the case here.

This person most assuredly does not and never will speak for the U.S. Army. She does not reflect the U.S. Army. She has been discharged; we do not know the circumstances of that discharge and will not engage in speculation. But discharged she was. She is now shamefully using the uniform millions have worn with pride to make a political statement, to aggrandize herself with a status that she no longer rightfully holds.
In so doing, she has doubtless angered the community of veterans. She has certainly angered me. And that community, we should note, is almost certainly including some who may have been more sympathetic to her arguments had she not paraded herself in a uniform she has shown herself to be manifestly unfit to wear.
Update: The DOD Rapid Response has issued a correction of their prior tweet regarding the nature/timing of the individual's service.
Correction: This individual served in the U.S. Army from November 2010 to August 2014 and was then in the Army Reserves from August 2014 to June 2020.
